Default The Four Horsemen - Collab

Vocals - Shemp
Bass - Spector2112
Guitars - Scalerwave
Drums - Addictive Drums for now

I had been toying around with this since ... last November I think. I asked Shemp if he'd try to do the vocals since he'd been playing live "Kill Em All" tribute shows.

Live Shemp-

I ran into Spector2112 on Youtube and asked if he'd be interested in recording some bass for it.

The project started out as a test for Pod Farm and to get familiar with Addictive Drums but it turned out to be a challenge in a lot of other areas. It sat on the back burner till about 3 weeks ago when the bass player sent me an email asking about it.

Here's a link to the current mix.

Any nits are welcome.

Old school metal...LOVE IT!

I'd back off the vocal delay a little to get more clarity. Great vox, btw.

Drums need a little help to fit in with the genre, imo. Programming is good tho.

Lead gtr a touch too hot?

Nice job! Makes me want to dig out my old Maiden albums.

Wow, nailed the guitar tone. Bass sounds great, and vocals are exceptional too. Superb, spot on playing all around. Awesome...

I'll just second the stuff that scottedog pointed out as far as critique goes.

Great job guys. This must have taken a tremendous effort. I really enjoyed this.

what are your maiden albums doing put away in the first place? this sounds great btw, the drums sound really robotic though. vocals are very accurate to the original and the guitar tone is perfect.

Thanks for the input everyone.

- Hey Scottedog, by hot, do ya mean loud or distortion wise?

As for the vox delay, I tried to match the original. I would go back and forth with more, less, more, less, and settled for what is there now. Lot of tail chasing with this mix.

Heh heh ... as for the drums well... it's hard to get AD to sound like I want but it's pretty close. JS sounded far worse. I was hoping for a live drummer really. Didn't work out though.

- Kindafishy, glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun project and now we're working on a video. I just can't believe this song is over 25 years old.... crazy. Where'd the time go? The first I heard from Metallica was the Ride the Lightning album which was very different than what I was used... Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. I got into "Kill Em All" after hearing "Seek and Destroy" somewhere. My band use to play "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "Ride the Lightning". Man, the "Master of Puppets" album blew me away. Damn shame that Cliff was killed.

- Thanx Carbon

- Thanx Zoso2, I'm still working at drum programming... no sub for real drums though IMO.

- Hey Shemp, you da man !

I thought a little too loud, but not by much.

How about a hi/low pass filter on the delay for the vox? Just a thought. Nitpickin really.

Heh heh - I too am having great big 80's Donnington Monsters of Rock festival flashbacks!

I would agree about the vocal delay 'cept I'd guess it is bang on 100% period correct.

Great work gentlemen.

wow, I totally forgot I'd registered here...
Thanks for the props guys, Scalerwave has done a fantastic job, and just wait until he's done with the video.
Hey Shemp! We "meet" at last! (you have no idea how many times I've heard your vocals on this as I was working on my bass part. Awesome job from both of ya! (and that drummer is SO solid....like a clock.)
