Guess you are free to do whatever you will... the iambic pentameter have a feeling of up-beat... if thats suits the melody and groove, good. But no one these days (well...) would mind much if you mix those things - spondee, trochee - to your own pleasure... imo. Try to make something musically interesting of a Shakesperian sonnet, in contrast to the Pertrarcian one, which is a bit fiddlier... not an easy feat, I'd say. But msore would probably chime in and set you straight. As a teacher of poetry, he'll tell you what is what, I'm sure. A structure/system man, no doubt.
