macOS 10.15 Catalina: notarization for our plug-ins/dmg/pkg ?
With macOS 10.15 Catalina some security things will get mandatory and I have a couple of questions about the impact to our plug-ins. I hope that at least some of them can be answered.
Facts:
- notarization needs Xcode10 & at least High Sierra
- no 32 bit support
Questions:
- do universal 32/64 plug-ins still work ?
- do I need to notarize iplug plug-ins themselves ? These are not signed in my case and are not in the apple store
- do I need to notarize dmgs and pkgs, that are not signed by a certificate/developer id (and are not in the apple store) ?
- what does the open dialog looks like when opening a unnotarized app/pkg/dmg and can it still be opened ?
- What about old plug-ins that have been build on old macOS versions ?
- I'm also unsure about wrapped (and signed with a self signed certificate) aax plug-ins and if these have to be notarized.
I hope we can start a discussion here. @olilarkin: I saw your discussion at juce forum about this topic, but I'm still unsure about everything.
Thank you for any reply !
