Default Blue screen

First time this has happened to me in years.

1.
Latest version of Reaper. W7/64

2.
Working on a project, selecting "save project as" and typing in a name and hitting ENTER.

3.
Blue screen and machine reboot.

4.
I launch Reaper again. It says there's a problem and offers "lose" or "wait". I do nothing and after a while the project loads (previous version - data before the BSOD was lost of course).

This is a project that was totally trouble free and that I have been working oon intensely before updating to the latest Reaper.

Any ideas?

1 - Load a different project. If it loads, your project file is corrupted.
2 - If the project doesn't load, one or more drivers or hardware issues are crashing Windows.
Start by blowing the dust out of the PC and it's power supply & try again. If you use an air compressor, make sure you don't over-spin the cooling fans; you'll ruin the bearings.

If that doesn't help, start disabling drivers one at a time for your PC hardware, rebooting and trying again after each one is disabled. Use common sense, do not remove keyboard, mouse and basic video card drivers....

You might find some info about what caused the crash in the Windows Event Viewer: https://www.reviversoft.com/blog/201...-of-your-bsod/

In general, it's also a good strategy to disable the 'Automatically restart' option in the Startup and Recovery settings in the Windows Control Panel. So the next time you get a BSOD, you can see what BSOD error code is shown and use this to narrow down possible problem sources: https://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/b...-in-windows-7/

Do you already have Auto Backup set up in Reaper?: http://reaperblog.net/2013/07/reaper...-backup-setup/
