Default Mouse - Right click boring
Hello everybody,
As most of you, I use the "Mouse preference" : Control+left click emulate Right-click.
BUT, when I click in the arrange window, the default action is to set the Time selection.
and in the Piano Roll the default action is (pencil) create notes.
Is there any solution to change those default sets , replace by a kind of "select items or notes" when I just click and drag ?
I have looked in the Action menu, but didn't found anything to do it.
If someone know what to too, it would be very helpful...
Thanks :-)

Did you look under mouse modifiers? (One below 'mouse')
Yeah, how about that bass ackwards labeling for what should be called simply "Disable ctrl-click (Allows Ctrl to be used as an additional modifier)"

I don't understand very well (in fact, nothing at all) . Indeed, i had a look to the "Mouse modifiers" but I schould find an action like"select items" or something like that.
I am looking for the same thing than when I Click & drag on the Desktop, to select several folders.
And you, did you changes the default setting to get that fonction ? Because it's boring to click control each time and need to select several items, notes etc...

The option to assign right-drag is under Arrange View context, not Media Item.
I have Media Item left-drag set to marquee select items + time selection. Then Arrange View right-drag set to just marquee select items.
That lets me right-drag to marquee select without altering the current time selection or play head position when I want that.
I guess it makes sense in hindsight but I agree that isn't very intuitive!

I thought you were asking about right-drag. Left-drag is under Media Item context.

Thanks SERR,
Then , the default action (Media Item - Left Drag) is : Move Item ignoring Time Selection
Still not "Selection..." as I do on my Desktop :-((

Actually it works exactly the same. Like the desktop, you need to click down with your marquee selection in white space next to the item and then drag to enclose the items you want. Clicking directly on an item will start moving it just like clicking directly on a file or folder in the Finder window will start dragging it.

Unfortunately not :-(
If I want to drag to enclose items, At the moment I clic (before drawing) it move the "Time selection" just where I clic, and then if I drag, it opens the Time selection segment till I release the mouse. Which is not what I need. (definitely not the same on the desktop).
Maybe, in the default Theme 5_0 , there is something wrong with the Mouse ? Do you use this theme ?
If not, maybe you could try to see the problem ?
Thanks again for your time SERR :-)

Well, that's why I gave myself two versions of marquee select. I set left-drag to marquee select + time selection and then right-drag to only marquee select. See what I'm saying?

It's wrong BUT, you show me how to understand the different setup in the "Mouse modifier" and I found the solution.
The biggest problem was in the "TRACK" - Clic and Drag. I've been obliged to go to "Action " and there, I found "Select Item".
After what in "Media Item" I choose "Move Item etc...
Anyway, Thanks you very much for your time and your patience :-)
