I'm not sure I know your reference. Are you referring to Reaper? There is no problem using several different videos on a timeline. It just plays whatever video is at the current timeline position, and will continue on to the next on the timeline. The integration is very complete. Functionally it's like VLC is part of Reaper, and the video window can be docked in the Reaper docker. You can even do video editing on a Reaper timeline.
