justin,

just wanted to try out the new opengl-acceleration, but i can't even get reafir to load in 1.48. reaper crashes immediately (see attached screeshot).

graphiccard: matrox millenium p650 agp (64mb, opengl 1.3) with driver version 1.12.00.110

It seems OK on my laptop. ATI Radeon Xpress 200M. My main system has a Matrox card but I don't recall trying ReaFir on it since upgrading to V1.48. I'll try it this evening and post back if it bombs...

Please put this dll into your REAPER/Plugins/fx folder, then launch reafir with opengl acceleration. It will generate a "c:\gldebug.txt" file. Then cut/paste this text file here so I can see where it crashes

http://cockos.com/~christophe/reafir.dll

Thanks,
-Christophe

Ok, try this new DLL and let me know if it still crashes (and if so, attach the new gldebug.Txt)

Hmm, try this sample opengl application to see if it crashes on your system:

http://cockos.com/~christophe/ogl_test.zip

BTW: do you have AIM or MSN/Yahoo?

crashes too.

maybe my card even only supports opengl 1.2 (don't know which version/features you need). and i'm also running windows/matrox-drivers in independent mode (means 2 displays, not a stretched desktop).

here some info on my system (from dxdiag.exe - don't know if it's useful):

What about this opengl sample test?

http://cockos.com/~christophe/ogl_test2.zip

If it still crashes, I'd definitly say it's a driver issue. Can you check on the matrox website if there are updated drivers for your card?

this one doesn't crash. it gives this error on startup: "could not get a valid pixel format"

then it runs. i see a room which can be moved via my mouse. the colors are in green only!?

drivers are the latest (from august 2006).

Ok, try this DLL, it won't give you accelerated support but at least, should not crash on your system.

Well... I see why it did'nt bomb on my Matrox card in the main DAW. It DOES NOT support OpenGl! Hah! Oh well... I'm glad you got it sorted out.

G450 dual-head. I bought a couple for like 10 bux apiece when my original ATI Radeon 9200SE went to the PCB junk yard in the sky. Since it only lasted till the warranty expired, I'm actually hoping it wound up in PC board hell.

I don't do video. Just straight-up audio work so I just needed a basic dual-head card that would not put a ton of traffic on the buss. Know what I mean?

yeah, but if i remember correctly, the g450 had opengl support (i had such a card long time ago). but maybe it's even worse than on the newer cards ...

This thing only has 16MB of RAM so I don't expect much... also, I could find nothing about OpenGl in the Matrox control panel. The 450 goes back quite a few years... what mid 2000 or there abouts? That is eons in the PC hardware biz.

I just found a great OpenGL diagnostic app. Both of you download it there:

http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html

Then, check out if your card supports the WGL_ARB_pbuffer extension.

Also, you could save the XML result file and attach it to this thread, that could be helpful.

Thanks,
-Christophe

It is as I thought... the 450 is too old. No hardware accelerated OpenGl support...
