It was almost 6 months since I put up my first scripts here.
My Bday is coming up so I thought I'd make my scripts freeware.
Nevertheless, donations made to the non-profit shelters listed below will be greatly appreciated.
I do appreciate those that sent me donations directly via my email but grateful as I am (and I am) I would prefer if you'd donate directly to the shelters.
These animal shelters are always in need of donations for buying food and taking care of vet bills, among other things.
The stray animals situation in Portugal is bad to worst and since these shelters only manage to run on volunteer work, they can only do so much...
So, give a little. You can make a difference, small as your donation may be!
Click on one or more of the links above and find your preferred method for giving. Most sites I linked have Paypal, IBAN, etc. Just look for it.
Also, all of the shelters I linked are on Facebook, if you'd like to drop them a line.
In case you make a donation, if you'd be so kind, let me know via the poll, ok?
Last but not least, before moving on to an overview of the scripts, a special thank you to spk77 for letting me use some of his code.
Let's get on to it then.
REAzard of Oz v2 beta 1
Sort of combined script of the earlier two. Does groups and coloring.
No video for now. Maybe in a few days if I can find the time. Stay tuned. Or discover for yourself.
It does come with a small PDF explaining stuff.
And here is a licecap (a bit raw but...) http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...7&postcount=69
V1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJJ9pe5ehTU
(if anyone is interested in V1 PM me and I'll put it on the stash as well, but V1 and V2beta are not compatible so it's using one or the other)
REAchelangelo is a step up from my previous ColorPicker script, that you can still find in the Stash. It helps you manage your track coloring.
NOTE: Palettes saved with REAchelangelo are NOT compatible with V2 of REAzard of Oz. But that will change as soon as possible.
These scripts won't alter any Reaper files but may not be 100% functional because of any bug that might have gone under the radar, so try them out.
If you find a bug please report it in this thread.
Sorry guys, I thought at the time it was Youtube acting up, I had just uploaded the videos.
They are fixed. Viscofisy saves the day! Thanks man.
Hope you guys are liking it.

Yeah, I kinda tried to have all the requests on first version sorted in this one.

Your script look gorgious and can be very useful ! They seems to have a lot of ergonomics features.
It should be hard to make with GFX :P
Thanks for sharing
Man, it's always great to read that coming from you!
You are also one of the people responsible for this, along with spk77 and Heda. You guys have been great in all the scripting stuff and are a great presence here in the forum. When I need to check anything function wise in lua I always go straight to the REAPER API function page in your website.
Gfx, well... took more time to learn than to do.
You should check out spk77's Play and Stop Buttons script. I have found it a gold mine!
Thank you for your words. You are always a great guy! Hope you're having a great holidays with your family. Hug!

Awesome thank you!
I have a problem with Grouping script, when I click the dock buttons I get:
"REAzard of Oz.lua:896: attempt to index a nil value (global 'pref_file')" or when clicking on global button "REAzard of Oz.lua:888: attempt to index a nil value (global 'sfile')"
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I really admire your gfx skills - so nice and well-thought-out user interfaces!
Thanks so much man! That means a lot coming from you!
You are an inspiration!
Hope the holidays are going great for you and your family! Wish you a great new year!
P.S. I see you were the first to make a donation. Even more respect, man.

Hi Sexan.
That error means the script is trying to write the preferences file and names file to your hdd and it's having a problem there. Check this:
- Did you extract the directory in the zip file to your C:\Program Files\REAPER \Scripts?
- Have you got any UAC or antivirus that may be preventing the script from writing those files?
- If all the above doesn't ring a bell, can you post a print of your script directory along with the complete path?

Found the issue !
Since I've use portable install all the time, this time I did normal installation and the folder for scripts is different (and bad IMHO(not easy to find)):
After putting your scripts in "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Scri pts" it all works.
So is there some priority to change where that pref file is written?

Sorry didn't see your question.
For the script to work properly it has to have its own directory. All files are saved to that directory, that's why I packed the zip with the directory. All you have to do is extract the zip into your Scripts dir.

No. I coded it so those files are kept in the directory of the script and all is nice and tidy.
And I am a bit puzzled because I coded the whole think on a portable install of Reaper... I can venture it might have something to do with your drive letter not being C: because in my portable install it is C:\yada yda...
The only files created outside the script dir are in the REAwOz_files dir in the project directory. Everytime you use REAzard of Oz with a project it creates the REAwOz_files dir which contains your project specific names for the 12 groups and the current groups selections.
You can edit freely the project specific names but I DO NOT ADVISE editing group selections (files like for instance Group_1.txt) because they have some internal info needed for the script to function properly. They are just .txt for keeping them easily editable in any event that might be needed.
The REAwOz_files dir is created in your projects dir for keeping things tidy as well. If you ever want to scratch the selections, coloring, etc you did in that project you can easily delete that dir and start over.

Here is the detail explanation of the problem:
You have 2 scenarios
1.You make Reaper installation as portable and then your script files are in Reaper/Scripts folder
2.You do normal installation and then your script folder is in AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Scripts folder
BUT on normal installation you can make your own Script folder within Reaper folder.
When I've first downloaded your scripts I've put it into Reaper installation folder "Reaper/Scripts" with folders as in zip :
But I got that error what I've posted, then I've extracted the scripts from folder like this (hoped it will solve the problem) but again same error:
The installation of reaper I've made was normal (not portable) so it looked for that config file script created into this folder:
Only after I've put script in the folder above the script worked as it should, but when putting it in Reaper installation folder it doesn't work.
So my question was can it be made so the script is looking for config file into any script folder that is not "\AppData\Roaming\REAPER" but any folder you would put the script (Reaper installation folder) (this works only when portable installation is made but you can't install some things like ReaRoute if you go portable)
Hope that explains it.
The script looks for your Resources folder. So, in a portable install it will be in the Reaper install dir whereas in a normal install the files will be in your Documents and Settings\Reaper.
A simple solution is this:
1. Choose where to install Reaper
2. Install as portable to that location
3. Install again now as normal into the same location
4. You get ReaRoute and all that plus everything is in the same folder ready to backup when you want to. That's how I'm set up.
see this at 2:00

The group script in particular is of interest to me. If it turns out to be useful in the slightest, it'll be a donation in the bag.
Did you produce the videos with Wink ?
Hi Airon! Nice to see you here!
Hope you find it useful then.
The videos were done with the trial of Camtasia. I was going to use OBS but it had a problem and didn't see my graphics card so I tried Camtasia. I later got OBS to work but since I had done the first video with Camtasia I decided to go ahead and do the second as well.
But OBS seems more than capable of doing the same, minus the anotations on screen so in the future I'll probably use it with my voice.

For future reference, I am going to record here what I did to install this script. My first time ever importing a script, and I am digital idiot in many ways.
First, I asked Reaper to show my Scripts folder. It pointed me to this location:
C:\Users\Peter Roos\AppData\Roaming\REAPER
There was no Scripts subfolder, so I created one, and copied the REAchelangelo.lua file to that location.
(side question: what is lua? )
Copied and pasted REAzard of Oz as well. No idea what that does.
Then, I went to Actions, and loaded both Scripts.
And now ....
What?
Sorry, I'm pretty hopeless with this computer stuff ...

Hi Peter, I don't know if you saw the link I posted in the OP about how to do get the script into Reaper, but anyway, if you didn't I'll guide you through it, no problem. We were all there at one point, huh?
So, you'll be happy to know you did everything right up until now.
But, you should have REAchelangelo.lua in its own folder like it was in the zip file. So, in your scripts directory you should have a REAchelangelo folder with REAchelangelo.lua in it.

Lua is a scripting language used by REAPER.

Same as before Peter. In your scripts directory you should have a REAzard of Oz folder with REAzard of Oz.lua in it.
As I said in the OP just extract the zip to your Scripts directory. NOT the file but the folder in the zip with the file.

Please, delete the script files and load them again from the correct paths again.

Don't dispair this is the final step. Right click to customize your toolbar (any you'd like to use) and add the script like you were adding a normal action. You'll get a toolbar button that clicked upon launches the script.
From then on you have two videos in the OP I made especially to illustrate what the scripts do and how to use them. Did you not see them or there's any problem over there with the videos not loading?
If you still don't get how to do it, may I ask you wait until tomorrow and I'll do a "How do I install these scripts" video?

They look very nice! I'm also most interested in the group script. I always thought Cockos should just have do nothing as an option for the groups, mainly to link them for selection.

Going to check it out...
Is there supposed to be sound on the videos?
Thanks! Well, that was exactly my thinking. But you if you leave all the boxes unchecked in the groups creation they don't do anything (I tried it) so REAzard of Oz was born...
Oh, no sound in the videos. At first I tried narrating them but I thought it was easier to do a good job at it than it was after all... Got more respect now for the people who do it well. More practice needed. Perhaps the next time around...

I'm getting an error when changing from Global to Project names:
...les\REAPER (x64)\Scripts\REAzard of Oz\REAzard of Oz.lua:888: attempt to index a nil value (global 'sfile')
Any ideas here?
Hi, Prezbass.
Well, it's a read/write error.
1. Is your REAPER install portable or normal?
2. Can you show me the contents of your REAzard of Oz dir?
3. Did it happen the first time you ran the script?
4. Is your project folder on another drive?
