Default Reaper freezes on Scanning DirectX FX box during startup

Hi,
For some reason I can't get past the "Scanning Direc X FX box" when Reaper initializes. This happened last week too and I uninstalled Reaper completely, reinstalled it with the latest version. I worked fine for a couple of sessions and then this morning it happened again. The box comes up and does nothing and then I can't get rid of it. I have to go into the Start Task Manager to shut it down. Very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?

Are you still using reaper 32bit?
DX plugs are 32bit only as far as I remember

Thanks for responding ivansc. I am using 64bit. I had a significant virus earlier this summer and had to reinstall my OS. Reaper worked fine before the reinstall but have had nothing but trouble since. My guess is that it's all related. I just don't know why.

Well at least the DX thing is solved.
FWIW you can always run Reaper32 if you really need to use any of the DXs.
Will normally work fine in that.
In fact it would be worth doing a portable install of reaper 32bit and pointing it at your DX directory just to confirm my suggestion 10)%
