Can I ask the bad question?
How much more will 2.0 be? And will non-com ones go up? I'm balancing the price of going into debt for the current version vs. the new prices when I actually can afford it

so far very cool but...
in toggling between classic theme and the new default, i miss the white band behind the track names ala the classic theme. (makes it much easier for me to see, plus i'm used to sharpie on masking tape on a mixer scribble strip )
can't seem to bring that back thru prefrences. anybody? thanks in advance.

All I can say is quality stuff. Really must go to bed being from the ole England means its way past my bed time but seeing this I just had to check it out.
Love the new default theme, clean and just looks "soooo much better" for people who will be finding out about Reaper
Also thankyou for the mixer seeing the plugins and just being able to Shift+Click to disable/enable the plugins just makes me smile!!
Not had a huge time to play with the other features but from where I am looking like a great platform in which to really put Reaper on the map for DAW software and roll on Reaper 3

first impression is fantastic, the automation enhencement and fx,sends in the mixer are wonderfull.
the only thing i don't get : why has the RMS level in the master such a big overhead now. beside that many old advance theme master vu looks bad i would suggest, that the rms level will never reach the zeropoint for a normal mix anyway ????

I sooo love the way the FX & sends on the mixer are scalable.. it's perfect flexibility. Nicely thought out!
One thought - having seen Vegas Pro 8's mixer has horizontal faders on the sends, I reckon it could be a very good idea to make right-click hold on the sends display a draggable left to right send level (a thin line like the velocity throttles) which disappears as soon as you release the mouse! Otherwise it's likely to turn up as a "hey they've got that & we haven't" FR very soon!
Is that do-able I wonder?

Anyway - v 2 - w00t!
I think I know what I'll be playing with this fall and winter.

How can I get Reaper to show fx inserts on every project by default? I have to right click and enable it every time, and it resets when I close and reopen? I didn't find this in the global preferences...thanks!

GREAT UPDATE! Love the FX and Sends in the mixer. If I could suggest ONE change though... it would be freakin' awesome if clicking the same button AGAIN, CLOSED the opened dialog.
Reaper rocks on...

This is a nice addition. I also like the transport buttons.(not pictured here) Just as good if not better than the Cornish style which I have adopted as my fave. I must say, a minimize function for the docker is getting to be more necessary with so much more real estate being developed. Alt+D for now.

Nicholas, in the PDF of the additions to the manual, it says that Alt-click in the FX bay will float an fx control window, but it actually deletes the fx.
I love this new release. The FX bay: great addition. It alone will save us collectively millions of mouseclicks in the coming months.
Automation: the auto-creation of envelopes option is clearly there to stop me from whinging about automation. It succeeds totally in that regard :-)
The new theme deserves to be the default. I've never really clicked to WT's theme's before, but this one is beautifully restrained -- or refined might be a better word. Very easy to look at and decipher, and it skillfully manages to tread the fine line of balance between the 2d and 3d camps among the theme users. And it just looks classy.
Nice work guys.

Track Naming in 2/0 beta-how?
I can't seem to locate the little window by the folder icon
in the track that in pre-2.0 versions was used to assign a
name to the wav file. Has that been discontinued or is
there another way to do it?

more kudos...
Justin,
Your commitment to this project is second to none. Just downloaded the beta... no sleep tonight. I was going to spend some time tonight remixing a tune I've been working on, so the beta going to get a workout.
Just a sidenote: My computer keyboard has a series of keys you can set to open frequently used programs. Reaper has knocked Cubase 4 off the #1 button... you're #1 on my "speed dial".

It's there...it just doesn't have a visible border around it. Just double click there and the edit window will be available.

2.0 looks very nice. I've just started using Reaper so I haven't registered it. Will the price increase be large? Will the mac version become feature complete in the semi-near future?
Also... I found a bug but I was unable to repro it. In a 1.888 project I had a folder track containing two audio tracks and a couple of VSTi tracks below. I loaded this into the beta and all was well. I messed around for a bit and then clicked on the folder tracks button and all of the tracks would toggle between folder tracks and non-folder tracks. I was unable to get the folder tracks to work correctly after this. I then created a new project to see if I could repro there but it didn't. I then loaded up the offending project again and it no longer had the problem. Wish I had a solid repro for you. (I'm a programmer myself and know that no repro bugs are a pain )

install question...
Do I need to uninstall ver 1, or can I just install ver 2 over it.
I realize that sometimes this is a 'no-no', but with the amazing stuff Justin does... I fiqured I better ask.

I don't get it, why is jumping to 2.0 a good thing.
I was hoping for a lot more fixes improvements before 2.0
For this update, why don't I see the FX and Sends in the TCP. There's plenty of room and it wouldn't bother anyone that doesn't want it. 2 columns below the meter.
The Master displays fx before the tracks when stretching the window, and remains out of line until the fx pane has expanded to it's maximum height.
The Mixers "Scroll tracks when Activated" only works downward, when lower number track is selected the mixer does not scroll.
I was expecting an option to display the Matrix when i rightclick ed on the new send pane.
I don't see much use of renaming fx in the mixer, but I sure would like it if Reaper would not overwrite my corrections for mis-naming, and longlong naming, by the FX manager. It's a losing battle. At least I should be able to keep the right names in the My Folders section
Well, I doubt anyone will appreciate this post, and I won't rehash the contents listed in Bug and Nitpicks, but I really don't see a 1.89 to 2.00 jump here.
Sorry,
Don

Are the "FX/sends views" only that..? Views..?
For inserts that's nice - at a glance view of all the insert FX. But for sends, how does just a view help in any way?
Is it possible to tweak send amounts on the channel strip without opening another window/dialogue yet?
The GUI does look nice - a big improvement. But overall I'm extremely underwhelmed by this version. It seems that most of the "improvements" have been cosmetic rather than functional and many user requests have been ignored - MIDI, quantise & groove etc.
I know a lot of forum members will disagree with me for various reasons and some may even be abusive toward me. But frankly, that's how I feel - extremely disappointed.

well, no offense but its a MASSIVE jump.
you really have to read a bit to see that.
just cause ALL of YOUR concerns havent totally been met yet, or you dont know about or understand the new features, doesnt mean its not a worthy jump.

Uhhh...did you actually use it or just look at it? Try clicking, right-clicking, dragging, shift, ctrl, alt click, drag, etc.
I'm sorry you're disappointed, but I think you're not even bothering to check the details before forming an opinion.

i feel you
im not utterly dissapointed or anything like that...I always look for work arounds. But i do feel what Xactley is saying. From a logical perspective a person would think to himself "Damn, the quantize aint there and the Per item FX aint there. And we waited all this time for version 2 ???" Im just as impatient as he is. It gets you to thinking "Were gonna have to wait for these for another year until 3 comes out to get these features." So dont bash the man. All of us have pride in Reaper. If not we wouldnt be the least bit upset when our upgrade isnt in the upgrade. I just hope they most requested features come soon and dont take a year.(Freeze, Per item FX, Input quantize).

Woot! Great update! I'm behind in times...just FR'ed changable TCP fonts...now gotta delete that thread!
A few bugs :
-I don't know whats up with the midi track. Previously, guru and Reaper would sync, but now it doesnt. It plays at will.
-Midi notes dont play the right events in the VST...editor seems to be messed up...
