Noise interference through phones via mixer when Reaper is open.
Hi. I'm taking my first steps with Reaper and you guys have been extremely helpful recently so I'd like to ask for your help and advice again.
I'm recording voice links on to Reaper via a mic connected to my mixer which is connected - via USB - to my PC. No problem at all with that - its recording brilliantly. I monitor my voice through headphones plugged into my mixer and there's no noise interference heard or picked up on the recording. So, no problem there.
The problem occurs when I have Reaper open for listening back. I have a (decent) cable linking the headphone jack on my PC to one set of CD-in RCAs on my mixer. (The phones - as I mentioned - are plugged into my mixer). When Reaper is open and I open the fader for this channel on the mixer, I get a high pitched noise through my phones (nothing on Reaper has to be playing, Reaper just has to be open for the noise to occur.)
If I listen through PC speakers, or plug my headphones directly into my PC, there isn't a problem - no noise at all.
Incidentally, I've been using this same set-up when recording on - and listening back to - Audacity without problem, so I'm completely foxed! (My mixer, btw, is a Behringer DX2000USB)
Any thoughts and advice would - as ever - be much appreciated.

Reason: Add name of mixer.
