Yeah, probably

And as far as closing and reopening Media Browser, yeah, unfortunately, the reason this happens is because REPAER initializes / loads the Media Explorer font ONLY ONCE once -- when the Media Explorer is opened for the 1st time per instance/session.

And when REAPER is exited with the Media Explorer open -- the Media Explorer is the 1st thing to re-open as soon as REAPER starts -- which happens happens before extensions are initialized -- so when it loads and caches the font its done before the extension has a chance to modify the loaded font. Hope that makes sense.

I avoid the issue entirely just out of habit of closing the Media Explorer whenever I'm done using it (and thus, my REAPER is never quit with it open)

I find ReaperReaders very useful since the regular font in the FX list is always a little too small for my taste. On my notebook computer, I could use ReaperReaders successfully - and after some trial and error, I found a convenient font size. But on my other (desktop) computer, it does nothing, no matter what I try. The font size remains unchanged and stays as it is.

Any hints what I could try to make it work? My REAPER installation is portable, so (almost) everything is installed to C:\REAPER. But this is the case on both computers, so I don't think this is the reason for the problem.

Works in windows 11 here. These are my settings. After running Show fonts settings gui be sure to run Set font to #1 if that's the one you want to set.

Sorry to ask this question once again (I did so before in this thread), but I still have a minor problem with ReaperReaders and its font size adjustment.

I'm working on two computers, a desktop computer and a notebook. On my notebook computer, ReaperReaders works flawlessly - so I could use it to increase the font size in the FX browser to my taste (which is, by the way, the only change I need). This is great. However, on my other computer (desktop) it simply does nothing, no matter what I try.

Any hints?

Hmm, make sure it's the right 32 or 64 bit version, in the right plugin directory? Although you're smart so I doubt it's that hehe, but double check?! I forgot, does reaper have any sort of plugin or extension console/error/debug logging? Oh, also maybe it's something related to Windows Defender / Security settings, or AV. The way this extension works is not unsimilar to game cheats / hacks.

Thanks Analog Dessert! I removed the 32 bit version, but no effect. And I have no idea if REAPER has any sort of plugin or extension for console/error/debug logging. Also tried to deactivate the virus scanner (Defender in my case). Sorry, but all of this does not work.

It's a pity that a simple thing such as changing the font size in an important region such as the FX browser does not work. I know it's not your fault!

It worked very well in general with default settings, but the font of Project list was not changed. (Yes I read the read me txt and close and reopened it ; ) )

Also, I don't understand the 4 font options in the action "Show font setting GUI"

I see that there are 4 fonts with different sizes, but it's not clear in which part of Reaper these fonts are used.

Does anyone knows this?

Media Explorer is different. You have to close and open it again every time you start Reaper

I'm running the actions that should change font size, but I can't see any change anywhere in Reaper.

- %LOCALAPPDATA%\Analog Dessert\REAPER Readers\settings.ini
- IN CASE OF EMERGENCY : You can delete that file if you make any critical misconfigurations which make the fonts unreadable, it will be re-created with default settings
- Or, hold CTRL while REAPER is starting up to disable the extension from overriding any REAPER Fonts

If you modify the scaling in the windows settings, the plugin doesn't seem to work anymore, it has to be at 100%, in my case it only works in this condition, so it's unusable unfortunately.

If you have your monitor set above 100% in windows, then Reaper Readers will not work.


I got this to work
I got this to work! However, I had to disable scaling from the Settings > Display > Scale and Layout menu - windows menu then type "scaling" is the easy way to find it. Because I had it set at 125%, it changed a lot of menu sizes. However, I was able to fix everything satisfactorily by using the Font Size settings which can be accessed by searching for "font size" from the Windows menu.

It seems in Windows 10 there are two places to adjust the size of everything. Scaling isn't compatible with this extension but Font Size is.

Please tell me I am wrong but I thought you put the DLL in the UserPlugins folder for a portable install not %APPDATA%\Reaper\UserPlugins?
