Consolidate Tracks and Export in AIFF format
Hello everyone. I am new to REAPER and this forum. I am a week or two into the evaluation stage of REAPER and extremely impressed with it. The only problem I'm having so far is consolidating/exporting in the AIFF format. I select AIFF as the file format in the menu but it consolidates the tracks and then saves them as WAV files.
Note that as an additional test I specified consolidating/exporting the same project in MP3 format, and that worked fine.
I am using the latest 64-bit Windows version on a Gateway DX4822 running Windows 7.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
Wolf

Consolidated? Explain the exact steps you are going through. What specific menu items are you choosing and what are you expecting to happen? Consolidating and rendering are two different things.

Thank you for your assistance:
1.From the main menu, I choose File, Consolidate/Export Tracks.
2.I choose either the Entire Project or a Custom loop selection, then All or Selected Tracks.
3.I decide if I want to Force Output Format to a single standard or maintain all current media item formats.
4.I select a Resample Mode.
5.I specify a required format – WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, OGG Vorbis, Monkey’s Audio or WavPack. (In my situation, AIFF has been selected.)
My problem is it won't save in the AIFF format when AIFF is the format specified. It saves the consolidated tracks as WAVs.
Again, I appreciate your help.
Regards, Wolf

Hrm... I can't get it to NOT work with AIF. Can you post a screen shot of your consolidate options?

Sure - I have attached the screen shots. As you can see, when I hit the "Process" button, it consolidates just fine, but as WAVs.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks again,
Wolf

You are doing nothing wrong sir. Reaper x64 Consolidate to AIFF does indeed produce *.wav files. I shall file a bug report.
Reaper x86 works as expected...

Done... Perhaps we will have a solution very soon. Good catch by the way...
Until x64 is fixed, perhaps you can use the 32 bit (x86) version? I run both as needed on my system with no problems.
Good luck!

EDIT: Here is the consolidate dialog in Reaper x86. Note the differences between this and your x64 screen shots? Sumthin' be screwy.........

Reaper/Cockos is pretty awesome Wolf. I'd be surprised if there were not a fix posted for this by the weekend if not before. Support here is great.
Welcome to the party!

Ah, missed the x86_64 part... yar, there should be no mention of a BWF chunk or Wave64 in AIF options. Dumb question perhaps, why use AIF? I mean, PCM is PCM to me... 'spose for Mac compatibility?

Yes, the reason for the AIF format was that I was playing around w/ some organ tracks in Garage Band on an iMac. Moving the files back and forth between two computers was a good test of the Consolidate/Export function in REAPER.
Obviously, there's an easy workaround if I just render the consolidated WAV files as AIFs. The WAV-related options associated w/ the AIF selection confused me too, so I thought I would ask the experts.
Thanks for your help!
Regards, Ed
