Default How to use iPhone to record vocals

Sup, I've got an iPhone (1g or 2g) and I'm looking for a way to hook up either a dynamic or condenser mic to it. I've got a mixer, so I suppose All I would need are the appropriate cables. Would an 1/8" to XLR connector work?

I also looked into the irig mic pre which doesn't look bad at all. Some guy at the guitar center told me it wouldn't be possible to use ordinary cables for what I want and suggested the apogee jam but honestly I aint tryna spend no 100 bucks on it. So basically I want to know will something like an XLR- to 1/8" adapter cable work? anything like these http://www.sweetwater.com/c873--Hosa...les_1_8_to_XLR

also, I have the old iphone so a right angle connector wont fit, so i'll need something with a straight end.

or what would be the easiest way to do this without spending money on another preamp. My mixer can do that

This one has a straight plug-http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...hone_iPod.html

It looks like a quality piece, too. No molded plastic unrepairable junk here!

Why would you *want* to record vocals using a phone?

Yezzir. The Idea of having a super portable mobile 'studio' a 'true' pocket device is super convenient, especially if it 'works' and yeilds acceptable results.
