Default REAPER Installer NOT Launching

I'm trying to install REAPER v5.95 x64 / x86 on a HP RP3 Retail System 3100 - PC .
It has Vista x64 installed with 2GB of system memory .

Is it due to the low memory size, that REAPER installer fails to open ?
I've tried both ... the 64Bit and 32Bit versions ... not working .

Funnily I'm also unable to install IceDragon ... a browser by Comodo .
I've also tried running the installers as Administrator .

Here's info of the PC I'm trying to get working ;

What antivirus are you using? So when you run the installer, there is no installer's process in Task manager?

I'm not using any antivir software ? actually I've got defender and auto updates disabled .

There's no process for the installer in task manager .

When I try to open the installer by pressing Win-key + R (and after browsing to the installer file) the dialog goes away and bounces back to the dialog again ; make sense ?!?

It's something I've never faced before .

I'd be going back to DuX XP Audio Optimized SP 3 if there was drivers for my audio interface (PreSonus FIRESTUDIO project) .

Windows UAC (User Account Control) might be blocking things from getting installed: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...7-d5b6aa40494d

Try to disable defender and see, whether it will help.

Have you tweaked this system much in the past where streamlining or disabling stuff is concerned? It's possible UAC or similar is biting you due to past tweaks. IOW, on a default, non-tweaked system, UAC should be asking you, not denying you without warning.

It is likely due to the signing we use on the installers. To work around it install this update:

Once again grateful that Justin never got assimilated by The MS, like the developers of my absolute favourite MIDI sequencer, Bars n Pipes Pro, did.

But you gotta laugh when an external developer supplies links to fixes for MS software bloopers....

I baled on the Insider team a while back for precisely this sort of bullship

If his copy of Vista was up to date he'd already have it.
