Default JS Plugin 1175

I have just discovered the JS plugins - cool!

Does anyone have some experience using them in comparison with other free VST or payware VST plugins? I am just now comparing the JS 1175 compressor with the Waves CLA-76 and finding that the JS plugin is giving me a better sound with more transients on a Cajon recording whereas the CLA-76 seems to be making it sound 2 dimensional.

What applications and settings do you typically use the JS 1175?

thanks!

In all honesty, I generally use it on snares and that's about it.

I have a weird thing happening here...
I inserted a 1.422 second white noise track (to simulate a power outage that we experienced during the recording) all on its own without any FX or filters, and the JS 1175 Compressor on the only other track in my mix pegs out at -8000.0dB, and slowly comes back to zero over about 5 minutes. I can reproduce this issue, even with lowering the volume of the white noise track to -30dB.

Does anyone know how to make it stop pegging so high, and how to make it recover quicker than 3 minutes (desired is the 250ms that I have set).

Thanks,
Scott
