The download requires an iLok username. That's a deal killer for me.

Looks like it might be worth resurrecting my ilok account for. I've never even heard of this plugin before.
The only thing that puts me off is how buggy I've found Eventide plugins to be - especially as this is a brand new release.

looks great. Painless to set up and I can confirm it works with REAPER for sidechain input.

I actually can't recall problems with Stereo Room. Ultrachannel is buggy as hell though - even after all the updates it's had. Parameters resetting is the major one - also gui not reflecting parameter changes. I still can't figure out how the compare function works either lol.

I had iLok installed but uninstalled it a while back. So I tried to get a new iLok account but when I tried to install it, it wanted to give me another software to download. It had 2 ways to go, "install" or "Do not install", something like that. So when I chose "Do not install" it promptly terminated the iLok install. I tried it twice.
Obviously, they won't give me the iLok account without accepting the protection software as well, which I don't not want on my computer.
Have any of the rest of you had this problem or had this happen?

Thanks Mik, yeah, it's not going to let me install it without the other software.
If it simply gives me another exe installation file, then it would be okay, because I can choose whether to install it or not. But I don't know that.
This is a rather sneaky way to force their software on you.

Nice heads up.
I already had the free iLok software. downloading and installing was painless.
How many EQs do we need in software?!
Never bought one separately and yet I seem to have accumulated at least 16.
They just sent me the promo email.
Here's the blurb:
"Perfect for mixing and mastering, EQuivocate's auditory filters and match EQ functionality make it incredibly powerful, simple to use, and natural sounding. As EQuivocate uses filters that are modelled on the human ear, each of its 26 bands tickles a different part of the inner ear, making any combination of settings sound as natural as ‘humanly’ possible. Combining this with a linear-phase filter shape that reduces pre-echo makes EQuivocate an EQ with a difference that can clearly be heard.
Features:
• Simple yet musical, the 26 linear-phase auditory filters are shaped to approximate the critical bands of the human ear.
• Match EQ feature matches the tone of one track to another — blend two tracks to sound like they came from the same source, compliment each other for better separation, or make a final master have a similar tone to a reference track!
• Click and swipe a mouse across the gain slider field to draw an EQ curve, then toggle CURVE DRAW off to fine tune.
• Use the OUTPUT level AUTO button to automatically compensate for level changes introduced by the EQ.
• Solo the output of one or more bands to easily find problem frequencies.
• Add or remove filters to customize the sound.
• Start with the included presets or create new ones — use the COMPARE button to toggle between two unique settings.
• Includes artist presets from Richard Devine, Jeremy Lubsey, Alex Saltz, Sebastian Arocha Morton, Richard X, and John McCaig.
• Choose color scheme for viewing pleasure."

Hi Jon, I really hope you are making a video about how to use this plugin in Reaper.
I'm not sure about how to set up the sidechain.

Sidechain is for the Match function in case you didn't know
reaper makes sidechain routing as easy as dragging from the reference track's routing button onto the plugin. I've already shown that in a few videos.
I'm not sure I will do a video but won't rule it out. I actually have 3 sponsored reviews (I feel like) I'm late on. Two of them are big products and I want to do it right.

I got it too. Even oddball orchestral composers like me can find some impressive results with presets. I'm checking out "Warm and Fat" and it sounds really nice. Lots more to explore. Thanks to Death By Guitar, as well as Eventide. (I already had an ilok from having an EW library, install was pretty straightforward).

Blade - hate to say it, but it looks like you either have a meatware problem with Eventides stuff or some kind of conflict going on. I have a number of their plugs running on Win10 Pro and Home Premium plus on a Mac with not a single problem.
Especially ultrachannel, which I use a lot. Have you had a whine at Eventide? They are apparently pretty responsive even on the free stuff from what \i have been told.

I stopped using Ultrachannel for a good long while. I see it's had at least one update since so I'm going to give another whirl. It's really annoying that the sidechain doesn't work on the VST version though.. I really wish they would code that in!

The "other software" is the actual anti-piracy application (PACE driver). The one you intentionally install is the user interface to manage the licenses (iLok Manager). It's a separate install since other applications can use the PACE driver without iLok, but the GUI is pointless without the engine.

Tod - it should just give you the iLok Manager software, which is how you actually install and authorise the software. You can probably uninstall it once you have the plug auth`ed since it just uses you iLok account to verify, not the dongle.
If you use something like ioBit`s Uninstaller free - it will remove everything including any sneaky stuff iLok slide in on the side, so you could at least try it for very little effort.

Aah, okay thanks yellowmix, you'd think they would have set it up a little different so you didn't get asked whether to download it or not. At least mention something about it where the DL button is.

Can't remember exactly but it's probably the usual Windows thing asking about the second install, not ilok...but yeah, not very reassuring.

not to mention that it is useful for finding out which freq is a nasty one!
Judders I found out what that bass HPF Tongue is useful for I think...
provides that wonderful mist on a blues bass run.
You alluded to this in another post.

I don't like the idea of ilok software. But I'm only human ... and when I saw a guy reviewing EQuivocate on youtube I was mighty impressed with the whole UI/workflow and the features.
Then I read a few comments on kvr which put me off - apparently the OpenGL graphics were a problem for older computers (the dev confirmed this might be the case). Also that older computers might struggle with the CPU load.
And that it needs quite a long sample block to process.
I decided that possibly infesting my pc with anti-piracy software for a €99 plugin that might not even work was worth it ... I could always do my yearly clean-install of Windows7
And I have to say I'm glad I did - I'm not looking to be a pro-mixer ... just to get a comfortable workflow for songwriting, and a half decent mix.
This is the first eq plugin that I can twiddle around with for ages and still have the will to live ... the UI and workflow suit me down to a t. Before I knew it I was dragging the freq bands around and getting ideas about linking an LFO
The presets are good and varied, some even weird and inspiring. It sounds great to me, a non-expert.
_
I only used 3 instances simultaneously, but had no problems on my old Q9400 cpu. The graphics were also fine. ymmv.
_
Did I overdo the praise? Nah!
But I wish they didn't use ilok. Maybe this software will come back to bite me.
_
p.s. - Cheers @DeathByGuitar.

Really glad that I stumbled upon this. I installed it and tossed in on my mastering chain for a rough mix and was very impressed so far! Helped me dial down frequencies that always bug my ears with ease. Now to learn how to use the "match" function.

It's ridiculously easy with REAPER:
Uncheck "master/parent send" on reference track.
Open up the plugin on the track you want to EQ.
Click-drag from the routing button on the reference track onto the plugin GUI.
Hit play and press "match" button on plugin. At any point you can click "match" again to freeze the current settings, and you can adjust the percentage match value while "match" is still active.
