Default Dotted eights in notation

How to get a dotted eigth in notation mode? I've tried everything I can think of, but the note shows as a quarter note (it doesn't make a difference whether it is three sixteens or four sixteens long), and the MusicXML export is not correct as a result.

Just looking at your image,

I am not sure why that is happening.

I have just set the grid in the MIDI notation editor to 1/16 straight notes.

I then placed a single 1/16th note and stretched it to 3/16ths long.

The notation editor now shows it as a dotted eighth note.

If I place a note immediately after the dotted eighth note it ties to it.

You are probably going to need to provide more information about your REAPER setup.

Default Only specific project

I tried the same in a new project and I could get a dotted eighth without hicups.

So it is somehow specific to one project.

Annoying.

Existing project to the left. New project to the right.

Default How to do it

I just learned that if you drag the mouse to the end of the yellow bar, then drag that to the rest, it will automatically make the dotted eighth note. Just like working with midi I guess. This is pretty cool.
