Default Inserting VST(i) causes audio engine to stutter for a little while (SOLVED)

Inserting VSTi or VST fx causes audio to break up while being inserted ... also clicking on any effect or instrument in a chain gives a pop or click in audio engine

I've tried this at 3ms and 6ms latency, CPU usage of project is very low when it happens.

Cheers

but if you have buggy (or not thread-safe) plugins you might get crashes then sometimes (when opening the gui of plugins). so beware ...

Your solution actually fixed my problem, huge thanks. The pop when switching plugins was actually due to a spike caused in the particular plugin I was switching between (Pristine Space) which does the same thing in Cubase.

With other plugins it's fine, so this is resolved, I'll make sure I confirm a bug before posting it here in future.

Cheers
