Default REQ: Fish-eye correction filter

Would it be possible to get a spherical distortion filter to correct fish-eye footage like that from a GoPro, please?

Do they have a formula for the distortion that the filter applies? This is very straightforward to do (there are 360 video panner presets etc), but need the specifics of the lens in question (and ideally a test frame)

Not a published formula and every camera is a little different, but simply having a filter that allows us to

Having said that, many video editors have presets for 1 million cameras.

Also, I found this: https://www.theeminentcodfish.com/gopro-calibration/
And this formula from VideoProc:

Plus this trip to Geekoutsville: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4934233/

This is what I've found looking for something like that.

Yep, to fully correct fisheye lens distortion you'll need 4th degree correction, as that Stack Overflow comment thread suggests. But getting the K1, K2, K3, K4 values exactly right for the lens will be a challenge.

I've used programs called AutoPano Video Pro and AutoPano Giga that can take a series of photos taken with a fisheye lens camera, find tracking points, and derive lens correction values from those. The program can then be used to create equirectangular 360 or VR180 videos from action camera footage.

A 3rd or 4th degree lens correction video processor preset for Reaper would be rather quite nice! But the calibration will remain a challenge.

Sorry, I realised part of my sentence is missing from above.
I don't care so much about perfectly calculated and calibrated correction, but at least having a filter that allows us to control pinch +/- would be incredibly useful.

This wont happen except only as a rudiment. But this would be a big step forward for GoPro users who want to edit their videos in Reaper quickly.
In my opinion an universal de-bulge preset and some fixed (GoPro) lens presets would be more than enough. But I guess we will have to wait for wwwmaze to come back with lots of boring time.

The DeFish filter on AviSynth is pretty good. There's a discussion on it on the Doom9 forum, perhaps the maths can be repurposed from there.

Or - could Reaper be made able to import / display / run AviSynth input? That could open a world of possibilities, albeit AviSynth itself is a bit "codey" to work with.
