Bypass/mute instrument(s) within Kontakt
Hello,
In order to free some CPU I pack multiple instruments into one instance of Kontakt. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to bypass/mute one or several instruments within this instance of Kontakt to save RAM/CPU (see attachment). I can only bypass the entire vst.
I hope Evil Dragon stumbles upon this post as I bet he knows a solution (if there is one) Of course everybody else's answer is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

According to Kontakt's CPU profiling mode, idle instruments don't use any CPU ("off%"). You can mute individual instruments with the "M" button in Kontakt or by muting the relevant track/send in REAPER. To save RAM, you can unload the samples with Kontakt's Purge all samples feature.

Above is correct. Idle instruments do not use any CPU. There could be patches which use the listener callback (i.e. for sequencer and GUI animations), which would use some CPU, but you cannot bypass that.

That's what I was thinking too. But simply muting an instance of Kontakt leaves Reaper popping and crackling. Only when (additionally) using the bypass FX it's significantly lagging less.

That's because muting a track is not the same thing as bypassing a plugin, at all. Muting still processes audio, it just doesn't output it.

Aah, I didn't know that, I thought muting also took the track off line. Of course there is an action for taking it offline.

If it took the track offline, it would take much longer to unmute the track because all FX on it would have to be reloaded. So that's why there's a difference between these things.

Thanks ED, I never actually stopped to think about that, and of course, perfectly logical explanation.
Heh heh, I don't know where you find the time to spread the genius brain of your's around like you do, you're basically every where.
EDIT: Incidentally, I figured out the problem with my multi-script, and it's so stupid I don't even want to tell you.

Also, purge the samples for the instruments that are not being utilised
