Default USB to Midi adapter?

Good day everyone!

The majority of the latest midi keyboards only provide a USB port and no 5-Pin Midi out port. WTF!! The one I purchased has USB out only.
I use a ton of external gear and everything is connected with good old fashioned midi cables. Can anyone recommend a reliable converter or adapter for this?

Thanks!

Found a solution. Seems not a lot of companies make these devices. Pricey, but for anyone in the same boat: https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mkii/

I use a cheapo M-Audio: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...o--m-audio-uno

No problems for about 15 years.

Many options tho, just search "midi usb interface."

Thanks for the reply! You're using that to go from a USB controller into your external gear? I'm assuming you're using a USB B to A adapter too, right...so that your keyboard will plug into this? I'm not looking to go into a PC at all.

Man I should learn to read. I guess that's why the device you linked is powered. Yea you'd need some kind of standalone host like that if you don't want a computer involved at all. Don't mind me...

Personally, I'd take a look at this - https://www.retrokits.com/shop/rk006/

Its more expensive but its also got TEN midi outs, can host standalone, be just a clock, just a midi thru, so many uses. Totally configurable. Also has USB MIDI in/out.

Its an incredible device, but maybe overkill. But then overkill may also be known as future proofing

Or you could try to find a second hand Akai ME80P. I sold mine when I finally got rid of all but two of my external hardware modules, but the Akai is brilliant as an electronic patchbay

Thanks. Been looking for a solution for this as well but found no one that isn’t super expensive. Limited market I guess. Can’t be that expensive to build.

Also your avatar is awesome. It puts that sweet sounding Moog line in my head!

Typically you just plug this into your computer (obvious) then use the hardware MIDI outs on your interface to get to the actual MIDI hardware. If you don't do it that way, you can't record/playback the MIDI that is going to drive the device in reaper.

If you are wanting to control these devices and a DAW is not involved at all, then whatever adapters others are suggesting but I didn't assume that was the need being the Reaper/DAW forum and all.
