Default Subversion integration (SVN)

Or something similar built into Reaper itself. If it makes sense for software programming, the same for music production .

http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.4/s...ro.whatis.html
http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/ <--- Tortoise GUI for Subversion.

Of course to track small changes, things like single tracks, items, FX rack states or automation would be saved into separate files (more on that in earlier posts).

This would be great ... I think you could get the same result by simply tagging undo states ...

insert -> undo tag -> "just before swapping verse and chorus"

for example, then later when you realize the folly of your bad decision,

edit -> restore to undo tag -> [just before swapping verse and chorus]

Yes, your idea of "markers in the undo list" or tags would be great and also much easier to implement, schwa !

And on the other hand, deep SVNs search/listing would also allow comparing details of many versions (which tracks have changed, which ones were the same).

Yes! I'd love to see some sort of Subversion integration!!

I have been recently toying with the idea of testing the feasibility of using Subversion with my projects. I really think I'm going to try it out.

+1
an excellent idea.

It would be something to keep us occupied until some of the ZFS features trickle down into our Win/Mac world.

+ 1000000

This would be much easier than the standard "Save As" for different versions of a mix.

One more idea you may like:

...a window similar to Arrange + a Gantt chart !:

A) rows = tracks or items,

B) the timeline = columns mark each saved subversions, or an "undo milestone".

How does it work ?

Where there's a change/alteration in a track, it's indicated by a "brick" in its row.

If there's no change in the next version, you see empty space.

When the mouse is over any brick, you see a baloon with more info on what changed into what, or you can move between undo states while previewing the changes in another window [not necessary actually loading any plugins]).

Double click to open the version as a new Reaper instance.
