Time Base Question

Is there a way to setup Beat (Position, Length) timebase (without the rate) and imbed it in the menu system next to the other options?

I've not really had much use for that but do now and it seems an oversight that one option was not included.

I get that you can use actions to truncate over lapping audio and this is most likely the answer but wondered if there was any more ergonomic way to do it.
