how is anyone else getting audio from resolve over to reaper for additional work and mixing?

This are my recommended settings using AAF. This will only work with recent v17. They only fixed a critical AAF bug recently so v16 is no good. There are still bugs but these settings avoid hitting most. These settings also use multichannel AAF features so your stereo clips will not be split across 2 mono tracks which is nice.
However you cannot reference original media files this way. Resolve provides no reliable option to do so. It always renders new files for AAF.

Resolve exports 2 flavours of XML - .xml and .fcpxml. Both are implemented badly. You will need to avoid certain features in Resolve when editing and to correct some stuff in reaper after. I have been reporting bugs to blackmagic since v12 but they have basically said they won't fix audio bugs in XML.
It took them 5 years to fix a basic mistake in AAF. (It used to mix up frame rate and sample rate which is why you probably have crazy condensed projecy. If a timeline is stated as 48000fps then it will be weird data). Give up on anything before v17 for AAF.
(one positive though is you can reference original media with XML)
Issues with .xml
1. Always refers to channel 1 even if you reference another channel. This can be corrected in reaper using "item: set channel mode normal" on mono clips. This will bring back the other channels in the original media. There are also some reaper scripts that can help correct things like assigning sequential channels to selected clips. Say if you had boom/3 lav mics spread across tracks you would need to do this because resolve would give each mic clip the same channel.
2. sync clip audio goes missing. You get the camera audio intead of the synced location audio. No workaround. Just have to avoid syncing this way when editing.
Issues with .fcpxml
1. This is a trackless format. Blackmagic has badly misunderstood how the format works. Resolve does not include important role metadata (which defines what purpose each clip has i.e. dialoguue, music effects etc) so has no layout information included. The resulting project layout is a mess but this can be corrected in reaper by moving items to new tracks.
In contrast, usuing this format with apple's final cut pro (which implements the format correctly) yields extremely good results with nested tracks in reaper (because roles are nestable i.e. dialogue.actorname, dialogue.vo).
2. sync clip audio also goes missing (see above).
multicam audio goes missing in one flavour of XML but I can't remember which. So sometimes one type of XML works better than the other.
Unfortunately Resolve doesn't seem to take exporting audio very seriously. I guess this is because most of their customers have been colourists. They usually strip off all audio anyway when transferring projects so nothing ever got noticed or fixed for years.
