Default Midi gets corrupted when exporting

Hi guys,

Most recently I noticed that sometimes my midi files get corrupted when I export them.
The midi notes seem to stretch like crazy, while it is not played or written this way in the original midi.

Screenshot of the original and good midi:

Thanks for your help as always!

Here we go again. Had this sorty of thing happening to me ever since the nineties when I was using an Amiga computer sequencer. Still catches me out now and again, as it does a gazillion other people. Doesnt seem to have any consistency as regards what DAW or sequencer you are using o rindeed if you are using plugin instruments or external hardware ones.

A total mystery which DOES need solving. But in my experience far from being uniquely a Reaper issue.

It seems all the stretched notes were originally pretty short ones, almost like glitches rather than intended notes?

Yep - seeing it displayed like this makes me wonder if this is a problem with either ghost notes failing to send "note off"s or Reaper (and other DAWs) responding to them too slowly...

Just off to get my deerstalker hat and magnifying glass.

OP: have you tried going back into the original MIDI track and increasing your minimum note length a bit?

I have tried making the notes longer, but still it gets corrupted. It also stretches notes which are not extremely short.
Very strang, I can't find what is causing the problem.

Could you maybe post a little example project for us to test? Only MIDI needed, no plugins or anything else. One small MIDI item is enough as long as it reproduces the problem on your end.

Good luck with that, X - I have been scratching my head over this one since the early nineties!!

Another thing I explored at one time was different ppqn settings between the original sequence and how it was when imported, but could never pin that one down as a cause.

Thanks ivan, good to know. I've only tested this with as short notes I could get with any normal means, but cannot reproduce.
