Default Multi-channel Files

There have been no replies to my other post on this subject so I will post this as a feature request.

When I import a stereo wav file into Reaper and Reaper is configured with four channels, both stereo channels appear in a single Reaper channel. I would like to be able to configure Reaper so that the channels in the file are loaded into separate channels in Reaper, i.e. the left and right channels of the imported file are loaded into channels one and two (or any other user-defined configuration) of Reaper. If I load a four-channel file, I would like Reaper to be able to load the four separate channels in the file to four separate channels in Reaper.

Thank you.

Seperate tracks you mean. Each track consists of up to 64 channels.

Right click the imported item and choose:
Item processing > Explode multichannel audio or MIDI to new mono items

Doing so gives me the left stereo channel in track 1 and two stereo channels in tracks 2 and 3 -- not what I want. In addition, channels 2 and 3 are gray with no envelope visible.

Post a project or record the screen, obviously I don't understand
what exactly you wish to achieve, as importing a multichannel file
and exploding it to mono files creates one track per channel, all
routed to a common folder track which holds the original muted item.

Default Render to multi-monaural

Thread is two years old, but I still cannot find something like this in Reaper, so bringing this up again...

Will there be another solution besides exporting the mix as multichannel, reimporting and then splitting the item to re-export as separate tracks again ?

Since Reaper does have all the information required for multi-rendering true mono files (for use in another system that can not read multichannel, but process separate mono files, such as multitrack tape recorders do), it would save time to have some option to select a "Render Master or Render selected multichannel track to separate mono files" in the first step...

Thanks...

Sven
