Default Continually losing hours of work and I'm really fed up.

This is the most annoying problem ever to be annoying in the history of annoying problems and now I'm down right pissed off. I've lost hours of synth programming work many times now and I've had it. Take a look at this image:

If you don't understand what is going on then I can explain further, but basically it's not possible to make sure you don't by mistake change the preset when fine tuning knobs. Also, my mousewheel is very sensitive. One little bump and I lose hours of work.

Heh!

My mistake is usually this: change preset > focus goes to preset field > press space bar to start playback > preset name deleted...

Not as bad as yours, but annoying as hell

a workaround: set up reaper to automatically save project to a numbered backup file every 5 minutes.

Argh! I've done this about a thousand times. This is actually one of those rare occasions when something like Acme's mouse focus policy would be useful...

well, by "hours of work" i meant combined with all the times I made the mistake, so it's a bit exaggerated.

I agree about the Space Bar! that is very annoying.
I have been meaning to put that in as a feature request.

Thanks for mentioning it.

NO!!!!!!!!!! It's a KarmaFX Synth Modular feature, not a Reaper feature.

I know exactly what you mean on this, I've erased many presets.

Please fix !

um, just out of interest - have you tried 'undo' right after doing this?

i tried this last night and it reverted everything fine on the synth i was using.

Undo works only some of the time. Other times, it may just undo the action of adding the synth.

but doesn't the preset only get changed if you use the mousewheel while it's hovering over the preset bar? if the preset is highlighted like in your picture but the mousewheel is hovering over a karmafx control, does it still affect the preset?

The preset is changed regardless of where you put your mouse.

hmm... that's weird. it doesn't for me. well, i don't have karmafx, so maybe the behavior is different with that one, but with other plugins, the mousewheel only targets what's under the cursor.

Had this happen last night, the night and day before, and before that... it sucks and needs to be addressed. Usually a preset does not get a erased that easily in other DAWs.

I have done this myself and it is anoying, but isnt this the same for the whole Windows environment? - if you're focused on a drop down list and you scroll the mouse wheel, it will change the menu.

I've also found this to be quite usefull when auditioning different sounds sometimes its easier to scroll down or hit the down arrow.

Yes, continue to hit that arrow because I want this mousewheel function removed. I think you're missing the point that you can't unfocus the dropdown menu by clicking elsewhere on the synth. That means the dropdown menu stays in focus regardless of what you do.
