Default Loop Recording Doesn't Work Well On Mac

Just switched to Mac after using Reaper on PC for years. Loop record doesn't work nearly as good. If you have a lot of plugins and VSTi's going it craps out. I've posted this problem before and tried all solutions but non work. I hope they fix this problem or else I'll have to dual boot and use PC version to track people. Loop recording is an integral part of my workflow and I can't live without it.

I've never run into this issues. I'm using an older mac as well. What are your specs?
