Finally some news from my Universe themes concepts
Hey all
Long time no hear. Finally got some spare time and Ive begun to compile all my ideas presented here into an actual theme, plus to include this wonderful new knob stacks options.
So here is a partial result what Ive came up with to this point(still a lot missing, but will give the general idea):
Ive tried to use a more universal grey approach with little less blueish tints. There is still tons of work to do so things may change at the end. Ive used different colors for pan left and pan right markings to make it more clear.
Don't worry the tcp will be fully functional with all the buttons and meters somehow like this mockup:
More results to follow soon.
Regards J

Hey Janne,
Great work, I particularly like the tcp sliders. I'm flailing around trying to make something similar and you're already nailed it! (especially the pan).
If I might offer some (slightly selfishly driven) feedback it would be that the width control ought to start 'empty' and be full at 100% (rather than half and half)
Volume ought to be offset (as the faders are) so you have a smaller gap for the 6/12db of gain over 0 and the bigger proportion below.
Pan you've nailed just right (although I'd have to see how I got on with different colours either side, I can see the sense of it but it might be a bit distracting).
Always good to see a new theme from you.
Cheers,
Child

Thanks for the feedback
You're right about the volume offset- will try to improve this
Width I see the half variant more logical since the 0 setting is at half and it goes to negative value.

Of course, I'm laid up sick today and not thinking straight. It inverts at the other end and folds down to mono in the middle. I was thinking mono was at the other end! DuH!
Looking forward to seeing this develop.

Dual pan uses the width component and works as expected via right click.
I will make a layout with two knobs side by side later on.

This dual variant will have to do for the time being.
Im trying too achieve the below line to spread to both ends(at the middle) from zero to 100 like a real stereo pread, but i still hadn't have much luck because of the negative component. Ill have to experiment a bit more

I really like where this is going!
Love it that the tcp is knob and fader -less.
Also that there is no stupid folders-button in tcp! (Man, was that a day to weep over - when Justin decided to fold under pressure and brought it back...)
Also love the stuff that actually is there

I don't really understand many "correct" design principles or psychology behind ui design, but this makes me feel very relaxed and want to work on music with it.

I like this. Reminds me of SONAR a bit. I think the 2d sliders save space.

great!
just two little suggestion :
1)the logo on the left of the selection input (input 1) on tcp: shouldn't the arrow be left to right? more logic in my opinion
2)don't forget INPUT FX!

Really nice looking theme!
I like the contrast and the buttons!
Are the meters multichannel compatible?

Yeah just saw this on a screenshot. Didn't know that sonar has this 2d strips. I never owned a pc. They really help to save space compared to knobs.

I really like the stack principle. Its much more accurate than the old way of making knobs and prettier

A screen taken on Windows 7 (Had to test because OSX-Windows font conversion screws up the font sizes) with transport almost finished:

Did you desaturate some of the color ever-so-slightly from how it looked since the first post? Maybe it's just barely slightly darker?

No. I think it looks darker because of the unlit VU meters in the last picture.

I love this. It's so simple, almost going back to childhood colors and I don't know... to better explain myself: Picasso said he had to learn to paint
like a child, right? Hence his style; you know where I'm going with this, don't ya?
Well, this is a very nice theme, so desaturated, so uncluttered, I like this a lot.
I liked the best the TCP layout on your first post.
Ok, waiting patiently.

Your themes just keep getting better!
I've loved and used all of them (I think) at some point.
If I can put my two cents in for this one...
I would love to see the toolbar icons in a real flat, light grey style rather than brightly coloured. Other than that - it's real smooth mate.
Keep up the good work!
