Hope it's all they say it will be. Although, I'm quite happy with Reaper.

Reaper does what I need it to do for $60 as opposed to $300( I was wrong, $400) for an untested version of a new DAW ... no thanks.

I'm certainly excited to see it. FINALLY. Wow, with all of the anticipation and beta testing, it has a lot to live up to.
I am very interested in seeing its:
-clip view/play feature
-automation items
-open and routable architecture
-stability
My questions are:
-price point
-video support
-potential copyright issues with Ableton. Hopefully none.

Good point. It's been in testing for ages. Hopefully it should be good to go right out of the gate.

Bitwig could have changed the game, but not at this price, I am afraid...too bad.

It does look nice though. And their promo materials do a good job of making it enticing. And, as has already been said, the features will be ripe for the copying/mimicking.

The features are good...but the UI is crap.
In todays software market its not the baseline features that attract
Its all about the little things like UI customization, drag n drop friendly environment or for example dockable elements that will attract users.
Thats why I left Cubase.
It had all the features and all the power...but no customization, it took them 7 versions to even implement track coloring...
Bitwig will be the same ;P

What makes you think so sure that will be the case? Bitwig is not Steinberg...
Bitwig's GUI is a lot slicker than Reaper's, and it's unified, and that's a big and important thing. Reaper still has parts that are hello 1990s...

GUI is slicker, but UI is worst
Can't imagine working without right drag hand scroll....

Reaper also has non-standard UX behaviour unlike most other DAWs, like right-drag marquee, so your point exactly?
It's all a matter of habit, in the end.

But you can fine tune it for your own needs

Cost of that should be much less
I would have bought it for $60, but not more,
seem's for this sum it would have bought all the musicians

I'm done demoing this thing. I loaded it up with multiple instances of K4, Mach5, AD, etc, etc and a good collection of bridged 32-bit audio plugs and ran the project at 32 samples, it ran really well. No glitches, no dropouts, ran really smoothly, never crossed 50% total cpu. With my 8gb of ram and using some of those large Mach 5 sample libraries, I'd run out of ram well before running out of cpu, even at 32 samples.
Fun to demo but not being able to save is a hassle. Building up semi large test midi projects like this takes a good bit of time because it doesn't import SMF with any real track detail.
Link below rather than make this entire thread wide with a big graphic...

Was fun to play with in any case. I suspect by the time it hits late v2 or v3 or whatever it will be a monster, if the developers keep at it. Early bugs aside, it's a nice product with a good foundation.

As a general kinda funny side note, when you get on with a 1.0 you always notice that they have these really sparse toolbars at first ... pretty
much nothing there at all because they actually don't do very much yet...
... and you just know by the time it hits v2 or 3 or whatever there will likely be all kinds of new functions and tools filling most of that empty toolbar space.
I recall S1 going from this somewhat naked tooblar below at 1.0... almost nothing there at all like Bitwig, lol...
... to this in V2 ...
So Bitwig will probably become a good bit more interesting over the next couple of years, functionally.

I dont know how folks use such bare bones software!?
No saving FX chains? NO track templates!? My workflow would die.
No creating folders to keep things organized. ALA fav, vox, drum etc. VST's are hard to find. Search function dosent work properly(Waves).
My goodness.
