Default Make note names in editor permanent?

I use Reaper exclusively to record and edit midi drum tracks. As such, it's annoying to have to load the midi names into the editor every time. Is there a way to have the editor always appear with the loaded drumkit names?

(I searched for another post about this but the search tool wouldn't allow me to make my search specific enough and gave me hundreds of irrelevant posts.)

Save as a track template or as a project template, then open it should open all set up for you.

Thanks, Dave, but that only works if I create a new track from a template with the note names setup. I'm using the Media Explorer to browse for midi files, then drag&drop them into the track control panel. When I edit them, there's no notenames.

Load the track template first, then drag and drop the MIDI file onto that track.
