envelopes: can't make a "90 degree angle" without toggling snap off
reproduction:
1- track with envelope containing a 0-X sudden envelope jump
2- grab the bottom envelope point and move it,
3- then move it back to where it was before
4- ISSUE: can't do it. the envelope stops moving before it gets there.
5- desired behavior: envelope point should move up to the point where it creates a vertical line and no further, unless a mouse modifier is engaged.
NOTE: this is zoom dependent.
NOTE: it's also mouse acceleration dependent. get a running start and the fade is further away from point 2. go slower, and it's closer.

Right-click the first point, set the shape to Square?
I agree that the behavior you're seeing isn't right, though.

thanks for the workaround and confirmation. unfortunately i hate menu cruising for something so casual. something about feeling like i'm playing a first person shooter, etc.

So, assign actions to set envelope shape for selected points to a toolbar button or a key, then you don't need to menu-dive?

yes, another good workaround, but doesn't address the root of the issue. unless this behavior exists for a reason that i'm overlooking, it seems counterintuitive, and i seem to remember that this started happening in 2016 -- previously, the envelope point would move smoothly up to the 2nd point.

interesting. i'll do some diving and see what i find.
super weird -- i think it might be a speed of mouse thing. when i'm moving fast, the envelope doesn't reach that end point. when i slow down, it does.

Edited my post, I just wasn't dragging fast enough. With snapping turned on I have to really whip the mouse over to reproduce it. But it's there.

yall can't keep up with my mickeys....
though in the original gif, you can see that i'm not moving that fast.

This bug exists at least as far back as Reaper 4.0, incidentally.
