Default Frustrating bug that causes tracks to mute themselves for no reason (SOLVED)

In this video shot, the tracks mute themselves. No idea why. I try to unmute them but they still act up. I don't know what on earth is causing this weird behavior.

Anyone experience this? Any workarounds? Tried creating new tracks and replicated the fx chain for both (just rcg audio sfz loader and a sonatina sfz file) and removed the trouble tracks. Problem oddly persists

Have not created any automation clips or anything.
Don't think it matters, but I'm running Reaper portably on a flash drive. Latest version as of today.

It's the auto-mute feature kicking in. Tracks can be muted automatically when the signal level exceeded the threshold set in Preferences > Audio > Mute/Solo.

I had a hunch, which is why I lowered the volume. But wow, looks like I severely underestimated the buggy-ness of the plugin I'm using.

Thank you so much! I think for safety concerns, I'll leave that on...
