FX chain opening as individual windows since update

Started after I updated to REAPER v6.77 - March 1, 2023, but I hadn't updated in a few months, so not sure when this conflict started. I updated tonight to 6.78 to see if it fixed it, it did not.

I'm on Win 10, 64 bit, SSDs, etc, 32gb ram, I7, has always run Reaper fine.

Since that update, when I open any FX Chain, it also opens all the individual window. It's a hassle, I have to manually shut each of them every time.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Hmm that option would be the cause, but nothing in the update of 6.77 should have changed it. Perhaps your cat turned it on?

lol. We have six now plus feed a few strays. The ones inside usually just jump on the midi keyboard. I have to quantize it but they can sound pretty good.

I haven't looked in that preference part for ages. Years (BECUASE REAPER JUST WORKS!). Maybe something third-party I added (or made) did some voodoo.

Only thing I can think of and it's a long shot, with CLAP support added recently, that's in the same menu, but wouldn't be in the same part of program? I dunno.

I like CLAPs. Developing VSTs I've dealt with the "ugh" of the non-open service license of VSTs. Claps rock but maybe the people who named it are too young to know "The Clap" used to be slang for a particular VD.

I digress.

It happened again. I didn't do any updates. The only thing I did different was do a re-scan of all VSTs (the regular choice, plus the one with emptying the cache.)

I fixed it since the last post with this fix:

But it happened again tonight, randomly, out of the blue, on Reaper 6.78. Did the fix and it went away.
