Set focus to Media Explorer
I like using "Play through selected track" option and a "Preview: play" shortcut in Media Explorer to try out samples with different effects on separate tracks before bringing them into the project.
However, if I choose an another track with different effects, Media Explorer loses focus and I can't trigger samples until clicking somewhere on the Media Explorer again...
If there would be a "Set focus to Media Explorer" action, it would be possible to focus the explorer BEFORE previewing samples.
Any thoughts on this?

Set focus to media explorer and search field
If an action were made for these it’s really speed up workflows.

Couldn't agree more here. I added some actions to MIDI buttons (CC#) to browse media/loops via up/down and "insert item"... (to whatever selected track, at cursor point)
50% of the time... inserting the item via MIDI either keeps the Media Explorer window focused (what I want) or loses focus (what I don't want), even though it's still on top of the main Reaper arrangement/track view.
Is this a bug or am I just doing something wrong? Thanks guys!

Can we have this please???
Same exact philosophy as 'focus arrange' and 'focus midi editor'.... if we're going to have modulated screenset ability then we should be allowed to keyboard shortcut our way to each window, where the keyboard actions change depending on which window is in focus.

on mac, for me this script focuses the media explorer but specifically on the volume control, not the file list. I have to tab twice to reach the file list. is there any way to modify this so that it targets the file list specifically? the idea would be that I could fluidly switch back and forth between arrange and explorer, using the arrow keys to flip through and preview files when I switch to media explorer. right now the arrow keys just turn the preview volume up and down as that element is selected and apparently supersedes the fact that the arrow keys are mapped to select next/previous file in directory

Edit the script and change the 1045 to a 1001.

awesome thanks that worked. the weird thing is that this is only an issue when the media explorer is docked. If I have it as a free floating window I can close it, do work in arrange, then open it again and my file selection is retained, I can pick up right where I left off in the file list using the arrow keys.
in docked mode it seems to lose all memory of where I was in the file list and hitting the down arrow just selects the first file/folder in the list. seems trivial but when scanning through and previewing large directories of samples it's a pain to try and find where I left off.
The reason I prefer docked mode is because it shrinks the arrange view to accommodate the ME so zoom /scroll functions etc. work as intended. otherwise a lot of content gets hidden behind the ME window.

I think that's a bug... probably worth reporting it to the devs. I published some docker scripts the other day that might help though. (State is retained when toggling dock visibility and it sounds like you're trying to avoid screensets )

Hey! Where do I find those numbers to edit?
I opened the the scrip in the edit window, but I don't see "1045"
See picture below how the edit window looks for me

Looks like X-Raym has updated the script so this tweak can not be applied anymore. It doesn't seem to be necessary though, right? The new version does focus the file list for me.

It doesn't for me unfortunately, I still have to press TAB 2 times to focus on the file list.
Maybe someone has the old script? (or is it possible to add the command "press tab two times" to the script or anything? I don't know.. )

Hmm, what OS are you on?
Try adding this line of code to line 33:
Code:
hwnd = reaper.JS_Window_FindChildByID(hwnd, 1001) or hwnd
like this:
Code:
hwnd = GetMediaExplorerHWND()
if hwnd then
hwnd = reaper.JS_Window_FindChildByID(hwnd, 1001) or hwnd
reaper.JS_Window_SetFocus( hwnd )
end
