Default Finally made something 135 Bassoon

Haven't worked on music in ages. Nerve trauma got bad enough I couldn't use the computer. Finally churned something out; nothing special but it's something.

Wow! A really unusual and compelling piece!

I very much enjoyed the combination of moody, yet somehow sweet, filmic melodies set against the tangy dissonance of the underlying harmonies and chords. There was a clever balance of familiar themes and new twists and new as the arrangement developed too.

Kudos for putting the bassoon front and centre - I had to chuckle - "Bassoon-Core" indeed! Thanks for sharing.

Ohh, yes, this is a nice atmospherically calm song
that has an unusual chord structure. The song seems
dreamy and relaxing. Nice to hear!

That was nice. Very moody. The piano was strongly dissonant, but very delicate and never forced itself into the forefront. Then the bassoon came in and tied things together nicely.

At first I thought the repetitive synth (or whatever the little 1/8th notes were made from) was going to take center stage, as they sounded a little less moody than the piano... but then that Bassoon came in and owned it. Very nice!

Just past half way the strings were a nice touch. Like warm butter on a piece of bread.

The bassoon seemed to get a little lost just before the end, at about 2:14.

I was listening with an ear to what sort of movie scene it would have fit. For some reason I kept arriving in Captain Kirk's quarters where he's drifting through empty space on a dark and deserted ship while just a little high on psychedelics and muttering to himself *"once upon a midnight dreary while I pondered weak and weary."

??? For some reason I associate bassoon with Star Trek.

*Technically Spock's line.

Love you guys.

So, I made one more version; changed the verb a bit, and did some small micro-tonal stuff. Not sure if it's an improvement

Nice job Mr. PC. Very moody. I love the sound of the bassoon.

And I finally realized what it reminded me of. The soundtrack of the movie "Moon".

This should jump you directly to the start of the music....

Oh, interesting. I never saw that film.

Would be fun to write for some space stuff.

Moon is a great movie. There are really only two actors in the movie. There are a few other inconsequential actors that appear on TV screens, or in a person's dreams, but only two actual live actors in the movie, and they both technically play the same person. it's very unusual, with a moody soundtrack.

That's very cool. I listened to it sitting on the rooftop pool in Las Vegas, sitting by the bar all by myself, while the lights lit everything up. It was a perfect backdrop, sonically.

Well done.

Glad everyone liked this.

Did anyone notice the micro-tonal by the way?

I'll have to see the moon movie now.
