Default Justin and Taylor?

hey mod's if you don't live this here move it

I was just reading my current issue of Wood and Steel, the Taylor guitar monthly magazine... I think you can find it online at their site as well

and I was struck by the thought that if they don't already, Reaper and Taylor should meet...

Why? because of a similar bent in philosophies... not that they are exactly the same but at least 'kissing cousins'....

Bob Taylor and Justin, I think..., would really appreciate each others way of touching the world...

so blah, blah but this morning it seemed worth saying out loud

You can ask Justin on his site, whether he wants to do it or not

Alternately he can write a letter to the editor of Cockos monthly magazine "Bits and Bytes".

I thought this was going to be a trashy news piece about a blossoming romance between Justin and Taylor Swift:

A ‘source’ within TayTay’s inner circle told us exclusively “Justin is everything to T. His analytical, methodical approach to problem solving is a natural balance for her tendency to fly off the handle and start swinging a bat”...T-Swizz has previously been linked to A-listers Chris Martin of Coldplay, DJ Calvin Harris, and Harry Styles...’They’re all just part of the beta testing team” our source claims...”Justin is the release candidate”

That sort of thing

sorry to disappoint as regards Taylor Swift...

but really its more along the lines things Bob Taylor has initiated like conservation and reforestation of tone wood forests and the like...

just really obvious and beautiful stuff but so rarely seen...

yet in some way [to my mind] it goes hand in hand with Reaper's marketing attitude and the way the forum and users and DEV's fit together...

In this day and age... I just figure the more 'good guys' that know about each other can only be a good thing.

I wouldn't read too much into it. Pun intended.

You're reading a magazine made by Taylor. Of course they're going to make Taylor sound like they're a boon to humanity. Maybe they even are. That doesn't really mean Justin is going to be besties with Bob Taylor.

well firstly... yeah sure it is published by Taylor... but I've been into them for a long time now and have come to appreciate what they do and how they go about doing it...

As to whatever, 'saving the world'... well sure... what is? At the same time, what they ARE doing with reforestation, especially in Cameron and Ebony is really sumpthin'.... If you don't know what is going on there, maybe you'd like to learn about it... It could be a model for many other things.... just like what Justin has been doing with Reaper could be a model for many other things. I'm very impressed with them both... just me of course, but here in the dark ages, even small glimmers of light are worth my attention.

Them being, 'besties'... never was what I said... good enough to know about each other IMO.

One has given the poor musician a topline DAW for a mere fraction of it's competitors' price, the other produces quality instruments at normal to over-priced commercial prices

Taylor does not have piezo pickups! Do they?

oh nonsense....
don't know what POS you have or are talking about but the current various pickups in the different taylors are just great...

as to price... well there is a rather full range from quite low to very high...

but neither of those is what I'm talking about... I'm pointing to a way of being in the world, something I see as shared by both Reaper and Taylor... each in their own way, but very different than most companies these days

Ah OK well then I may have been a bit harsh, I'm suspecting my guitarist has once again had the EQ and volume set all weird, sigh, he ALWAYS does this when we are recording. I will check before our session on Wednesday. I'll retract my previous comments.

I agree with this, and with Reaper I don't see any of that unasked for philosophy from the marketing department! I just see a fantastic product and as I learn how to use it more I can see the thought that went into the design of Reaper.

I'm just glad no one mentioned PRS, or I might have said something mean, lol
Still I feel bad for guitar, amp and drum makers, unlike software, there's really not much innovation needed, because to me they've become standard like a classical violin, the best a company in this arena can do is offer quality and value.

Taylor guitars are fantastic ... here's a picture of my 614CE limited edition (maple back which you can't see in the picture).

Sustainable farming and sourcing of wood for guitars is a BIG deal ... there were some big controversies about Gibson guitars (google it) in recent years.

In this day and age you can't just go out and chop down trees nilly willy, the long ecological damage is real. Bob Taylor is smart by having an ebony tree farm in Cameroon, it's good on many levels: local ecology, work for the locals, and of course high quality wood which is used on every Taylor guitar. They deliberately use wood that may be esthetically imperfect, with lighter streaks showing on the fretboard, as long as the tone is perfect.

They are pricey, but the fit and finish and sound is next to nothing ... really a work of art.
