Default "loop section of item" not working here...

hi all,

i don't get the midi item to be looped with "loop selection of item", when the chosen section is shorter than the actual recording.
assume the following situation:
i have recorded one bar of midi. the item is exactly one bar long.
now i would want to loop just the first 1/4th of the midi item. so i turn "loop source" on, then shrink the time to the desired section, select "loop section of item", drag the end back out - it just loops the source length (from the very end of the recording).
the strange thing is, that it works, if the to be looped section is longer than the actual recording. i have to actually open the midi piano roll editor - there i can edit this. but i don't find a way to do that in the arrange window.
with audio items it works exactly as desired.
what am i missing here??

If you want to loop the source, you'll have to make the source the length you want first. So make your length adjustment to the item first and then glue the item. After that you can loop the (new) source you just created.
