Default Problem rendering a WAV file

I am doing well with Reaper but I wanted to test converting a midi file to a .wav so I simply downloaded a .mid song, used media explorer to import into a single tract, played it fine, then rendered to a 24 bit .wav file. When I try to run .wav in Windows Media Player it gives the error "An audio codec is needed to play this file". If I do a 16 bit .wav it gives no error but tracks are blank.
Can anyone help????

Search for the codec out there, there's plenty, just make sure it comes with an uninstaller, some of these codec paks put crap on your system with no way to remove it.
