Default Weird happenings when moving tracks around.

After laying down a few tracks, I needed to re-arrange them --- put all the synths together, all the drums together etc.

When I slid track number four to be next to number one, on playback it now sounded completely different --- the volume had dropped and the voice itself had changed.

Has anyone experienced this sort of thing?

Bit strange.

If you use folder tracks this can definitely happen. If you want tracks to appear next to each other it's better to use the track manager to make the tracks between them invisible temporarily. That won't affect the mix at all.

not sure but it does seem like while moving your tracks you accidentally moved at least one into another so that a track became a folder.

I think, what you want is just to move the position of the tracks and NOT have any folders... or IF you do have folders, you want the order of the children tracks in them to remain the same if you move the whole folder to a different location in the project.

so... you need to pay attention when moving tracks that the momentary 'blue line' that indicates if your are making a folder is doing what you intend.

you can check some of Kenny's videos about this or look it up in the user guide.

IF you do accidentally make a folder you can un-folder that track via the little icons on each track that tell you IF the track is a folder or child or last track in a folder.

Simply changing the order of single tracks in a project will not change their sound. But IF you put a track into a folder it will of course be affected by any FX that are on the parent folder.

Useful info and advice Hopi,

Many thanks for the suggestions --- I think what you said was probably just what happened.

Worth a quick look at Kenny's vidz on this topic.

Regards,

SR
