Default make create/ delete/ edit marker available in midi editor

So that we can easily write things like example: name of the chords on each bar

Thank you!

These actions from the main section might help you:

Markers: Insert marker at current position
Markers: Insert and/or edit marker at current position
Markers: Edit marker near cursor
Markers: Delete marker near cursor

And Misc: Pass through key to main window in the MIDI Editor section.

Brilliant : ) thank you so much !

Edit: I was expecting "Pass through key to main window" would allow keyboard commands to ignore midi editors ones and so i could call the actions you told me. But it is not working like this, even with "Misc: Pass through key to main window" ARMED. What am i thinking/doing wrong?

"Misc: Pass through key to main window" is not an action that needs to be armed or disarmed.

Instead, it immediately passes through any keystroke that is assigned to it (you can assign many shortcuts to it) to the Main section, and then runs whatever Action is assigned to that shortcut in the Main section.

For example, if "Markers: Insert marker at current position" is assigned to Ctrl-M in the Main section, and "Markers: Delete marker near cursor" is assigned to Alt-M, then you should assign *both* shortcuts to "Misc: Pass through key to main window".

Shortcuts that are assigned to "Misc: Pass through key to main window" therefore have exactly the same effect whether they are clicked in the MIDI editor or in the Arrange view.

I see . This should be great . But i can't seem to find how to assign *both* shortcuts to "Misc: Pass through key to main window". I will try later with more time.
Thank you

Deeb,

You need to find the "Misc: Pass through key to main window" in the MIDI Editor action list, then add the keyboard shortcuts you use in the TCP for adding, editing markers.

In the screenshot below I have added "M" and "Shift-M" which, for me, adds a marker and edits a marker respectively.

Continuing this topic, does anyone know how to replicate mouse deletions of markers in the MIDI editor? In the TCP you can delete markers with Alt-left-click...

+1 for this in the context menu

No having this actions is not convenient and insistent, and to have to map keyboard shortcuts is unexpected (as I don't want to use keyboard shortcut for these actions).

Ideally it would be accessible as action too so it can be put on the MIDI toolbar.

Thx!

Just released two scripts for the Insert/Edit and Remove one.

But it is not very handy to have to write one line scripts for each actions from main contetx we want to access. And having in right click will still be the prefered solution.

For what it’s worth with the stock actions, the only issue is removing a marker from the midi editor.

With pass through to the main window, you can add markers and and jump to a marker 1-10, it’s just that there’s now way for alt click on a marker in the midi editor to correctly remove a marker.

@skylar_battles
You can't put it on toolbar with run keybaord shortcut trick.

Anyway, I have released two free scripts for the add-edit and the remove one, more flexible than the shortcut trick, but it would be appreciated to have it as right click options.

Interested in the scripts. Where are they located?

Yes I have seen, but it’s an action which has no much use for me because it looses intuitiveness.
