The guy wasn't happy with the sound of his guitar rig but Eric Clapton picked-up the guitar and suddenly it sounded great and he said "it sounded like Eric Clapton".
Had Angus fking Young played any other guitar, you'd still love him and be talking about that one. Guitars don't make music by themselves, that really, really, really matters.
And anyone who saw them in their prime will testify it wasn't Angus on an SG playing some of their most signature guitar parts

The bendy neck thing is why I got rid of my SG. Ham fisted bass player & bendy neck dont mix!
When I first met Kim Rew, he was playing an SG and using the bendy neck to great effect. At one stage, a pal of ours (Pete Towers) adapted an EB0 to become a guitar and with the longer neck, the bending was absolutely insane!
Fortunately, Kim finally joined me in liking Fneders. Nowadays, he plays a Telecaster most of the time when gigging, but played a Les Paul the last time we recorded something together IIR. Oh, and he bought his missus an EB0, too!
I always loved the sound of Frank Zappa's SG. The live solo at 5:48 is representative.
I bought my SG coz a guitarist who recorded a lot in my studio almost exclusively used his here at my place plus I always liked Zappa's and Todd Rundgren's "The Fool". I didn't realize I was getting a Slim Taper D neck, which I have found out I love. My L6S has a C profile neck, and the Slim Taper D neck is so much easier to play to me.

SG's don't really have a sound. Or, let me rephrase that, if they do it's pretty much the same as about 300 other models with the same pickups in them.
The Young bruvvers to me have the all time best heavy sound. Being able to play open chords means distortion not too much. Always seemed to me the cleaner you can play the louder it will sound........
