Default Listen to me, now

This one is getting closer. I really want to try some piano and some organ. One of my bandmates is cogitating on those. I'll post an update next weekend. Here it is now. Feel free to comment.

Nice song. I would double the vocal and put it just under the lead and double it again but 2 paces back from the mic and bring that level up equal to the 1st double.

Thank you!

Well, I just spent three hours attempting what you've suggested and I failed badly. Haha. I just don't have what it takes to record vocals that track closely with the original. The result just sounds contrived, or maybe "weirdly gratuitous". But it was a learning experience.

Peace.

Yeah doubling is a skill for sure. You can fake a double by dropping a copys pitch by 10 cents and delay 15ms with volume a bit lower

Nice song, not the kind of music very common here.
I think the backing vocals was to loud compared to the lead.
The first solo, the guitar was too alone, the second solo was better, but still too alone.
I sense some kind of percussion. Make it audible.
The performance was good, the sound of the different instruments/vocals was good, but the mix, volume wise, was less good.

A good listen. Vocal sounds just right to me for the song. Guitar solos sound a little thin (maybe try 2 dB cut at 3 kHz and 2 dB boost at 350 Hz), and sometimes too long.

I spent my sick day (some kind of bizarre and completely gross eye infection thing) playing around with my new Akai mini keyboard. Now, I suck at playing piano, but after seventeen-thousand takes, I think I've got a couple for the beginning of each verse.

The link don't work.
The standard is to put new versions in the OP.

So much better!
The bass could use a couple of extra dB's though.

Thanks!

I'm humbled sometimes by the number of lessons available in mixing. Holy smokes. For instance... I added some cello last night. And this morning I've been trying to refit the vocals. But when I turn up or down the volume, the vocals either stick out too sharply and suddenly or disappear. Like... there was no happy medium. So on a whim, I put a high pass filter on them and boom! They don't sound "right" when soloed, but they're great in the mix.

Here's the latest with the cello part.

I think this is as good as I can get it at this point. Now I want the pop and delicious hollow sound of some great congas (I have a friend who's a near-pro), and I want to at least try to get that Hammond B3 organ sound in there too.
