Default Bet ya ain't heard anything like this on Ninjam

Pretty extreme trippy spacey stuff, taken from one of the best jams I've had yet thus far.

Oriental strings, flutes and evolving sound-scapes ahoy!

<3 Ninjam

Other goodies from that day in the 2006/06/03 selection.. Fun if you stream them in correct time order.

Really really awesome.
Personally, I prefer these kinds of jams over the more "traditional" ones, as they give much more room for exploration.

Dang, I love this kind of ambient stuff. I was thinking of setting up a server or session for 100% ambient jamming. No drums and no distorted guitar allowed!

Default bbbbooyah to mvoll !!

good on you!!
i just logged on and it seems to be working fine.

it's nice to be able to quickly see if
anyone's on before logging in if time is
any issue.

you could ask neimad to add you to his list?
http://ninjam.dyndns.org/index-new.php
but you might not want to and that's cool.
i will just wait if i have time.

thanks - thank you!

Hahah also I don't always sound like that, there was some pitch going on there I think, I hope How embarrassing for ME! haha.
Ok embarrassment over, WE ROCKED! I WAS PISSED AND UP ALL NIGHT.

I did a gig last night at Eolus Lounge in SL. For the last 20 minutes I introduced a new genre of Ambient Trance Blues [wtf??;-)]with MoShang Zhao live from Taiwan on windcontroller. I played Shakuhachi [it has a natural blues scale!], harmonica and eBow slide guitar.

Catch it on the song page here http://www.sonicviz.com/music/members/6/blog.php as track "Ambient Trance Blues Jam" [down the bottom or select on the radio].

Does this mean were gonna see an invasion of the Spuddle.
I live on there, least I was but I started going outside again to see plants, tree's and people again. But dam it gets boring quick so I need to get myself a new comfy chair and put it in the corner in a NINBOT server.

I also LOVE Spacey music but not all do, some want it IN YA FACE!

I'm offended (coming from a drummer). It's very possible to play ambient stuff with drums (cymbals and toms) cmon people

I agree: I've had some nice spacey jams with nun. Even if I play four to the floor, jamming with nun leaves you feeling spaced! But seriously, a good drummer can support many kinds of music. (I don't yet include myself in that category but I like the opportunity to develop.)

Of course, if all you've got is the patterns built into your eDrum brain, then you're going to stomp all over ambient, trippy jams. But that's pretty much the case whatever genre..!

Ambient fits good with many drums, if its a meaty drum set, drop the bass, if its a fast drum set like jungle etc, up the pitch, if its wavy slow ambient, lower the pitch of the drums and add delayed in the reverb.

Its a good thing NINJAM and REAPER have all them fx's built in.

I prefer ambient as its much more expressive and gives people more time to think when creating.

For me NINJAM is about exploring new genres and finding new ways to tease the brain with music. I like to pull it straight out of the grey matter into some sound waves.

Also on a simular subject,
I want to record some real life sounds and incorporate them into the music, anyone know of a good stereo Dictaphone type device that records digitally, or a good compact stereo mic that could go into a mini disc player that records?

Or has anyone got the gear to do than and want to record some sounds.

Some good sounds would be outdoor swimming poll background noise, airport terminal, a storm, or windy rain, a wooden rocking chair on a wooden porch, autumn leaves rustling and churching when walked through, real sea waves on a shore, wind whistling though a crack in a window frame.

Seems mad to ask for such things but sound fx cd's fall short in sample length or have copyright so could be a prob using in ninjam. Plus want it to be ours and not someone else's telling us how we can use it or trying to control what we create from using there stuff.

I think hat makes sense. :S

Yes I have a Zoom H2 which I bought with my band to record our practices. It's a great unit and at the moment nothing beats it on price. It has limits but for what you want to use it for it'd be ideal.

This set was absolutely amazing. I'd love to be involved in an ambient jam one day.

JUST found out about Ninjam tonight, thanks to the ChucK forums on electro-music( http://electro-music.com/forum/viewt...=200456#200456 ). I've been wanting to collaborate over the net for a good while now, great to see that this project exists, and is open source!
