Several app hangs and crashes with Reaper (crash logs attached)
Hey devs,
for a while now I'm experiencing severe app hangs and crashes. Usually a lot of different plugins are involved.
I'm not 100% sure if this is a Reaper issue, but since I have no clue how to find out (I'm not very good at crash log deciphering), I thought I might provide the logs here:
http://nextcloud.stephanroemer.net/i...wcZSfjeqiP7xRT
Collected them over the period of 3 months with different versions of Reaper.
Would be great if you could help me to isolate the issue. Maybe it's a plugin developer who needs to change some minor things to make it work 100% in Reaper.
Any help appreciated, thanks!

I took a look at the first report, it mentions the reaper_js_ReaScriptAPI64.dll which is not a VST plugin but the Julian Sader extension plugin. Are you using some ReaScripts that use functions from that?

There are a few defer scripts running in the background:
LBX Stripper, HeDa's Track Inspector, Reaticulate and SmartKnobs.
But I'm not 100% sure if those are using the JS API.

You could rename the reaper_js_ReaScriptAPI64.dll to _reaper_js_ReaScriptAPI64.dll and see if your background scripts still work.

So yes, LBX Stripper indeed needs JS_API.
Was the JS_API mentioned in context with the crash / app hang?
There's so much stuff listed in that file... I'm really confused.

It was mentioned (as reaper_js_ReaScriptAPI64.dll) in the first or second report. I didn't go to the trouble of downloading and reading through all the reports to see if there were some other 3rd party dlls mentioned by name. (Which could be VST plugins or the SWS extension etc...)

Ah okay, I see.
But I don't think it's the culprit here, since it usually happens when loading a VST. I noticed it's mostly Omnisphere.

OK, I looked at a couple of other, random, reports, in those "REX Shared Library 64.dll" and "ntdll.dll" were mentioned. It would appear something is probably corrupting memory and causing faults in random dlls. Hopefully Justin or Schwa will take a look at your reports and are able to figure out something from them.

I hope that, too. I wish I could do more right now, but I'm limited to collecting crash logs, I fear.
Added 4 new crash logs from yesterday to today...

I'm just running some RAM tests, but so far everything seems good.

The problems likely wouldn't be because of faulty physical RAM but some software component corrupting the memory of the Reaper process. Could be a bug in some plugin or Reaper itself.

I still get annoying crash frequently on Reaper, always with faulty module ntdll.dll.
It is often happening when switching plugin windows. It can be anything from Omnisphere to u-he...
Nothing new about this ?
thx
