Default Emulate ProTools "-" command for item volume

How would I emulate ProTools "-" command for item volume?

I am hoping to find a very quick way to adjust the volumes of items.
At the moment I am doing it via item properties.

ProTools has clip gain on every individual item, which is still the king of workflow, mainly because it adjusts the gain pre any inserts, great for taming compression and sends to FX, EG a great premixing function for vocals.
I presume this is all unavailable in Reaper?

Not sure the best approach for speedy workflow - especially for sound design elements.

When doing lots of individual item volume adjustments on large projects, what is the recommended best approach in Reaper?

Luckily you've presumed wrong. It's available in Reaper and actually has been since well before Pro Tools even had clip gain. If you run the action "Take: Toggle take volume envelope" It will bring up a volume envelope on all the selected items that is equivalent to clip gain in Pro Tools.

Even better:

You have these 2 Actions in Reaper Action List, which you can assign to shortcuts:

Item: Nudge items volume +1dB
Item: Nudge items volume - 1dB

And, when you have SWS extensions installed, you will also have these 2 Actions:

Xenakios/SWS: Nudge item volume up
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge item volume down

The latter 2 Actions work with .5 dB increments.

Thanks for your help gents, much appreciated - all working.
I am well into my third big project on Reaper, and I am totally impressed with the flexibility, and customizing the workflow to be my very own, and how stable the whole show is!

I did not think I was going to make it though!
- SO glad I stuck it out

Item: Nudge items volume - works great (assigned to +&-) but will not increase past a certain fixed level?
Sometimes with quiet SFX I need to adjust 20-30 db up.

There seems to be no setting for this in preferences?

In those situations I usually normalize the item first and then adjust the item volume down if needed.

Thank you Xenakios - this is a workaround.
I noticed I still have the 12db of gain on the item properties if needs be.

EDIT.
But just now trying your SWS nudge action seems to be unlimited in the volume increase - just what I needed

There are a couple of scripts by X-Raym that allow .1 db adjustments.

Thanks - good to know for mastering duties, and finer mix balances.

one thought... on items there can be two ways to adjust the volume...
1-a bar or line on the item at the top that you can drag with the mouse... or
2-in pref's you can change that to knob and make the knob visible on the items....

when you use the line the amount you can increase or decrease is limited a lot... but with the knob you get a much greater range...
