UPDATE: the fade crossfade issue has been fixed (i must have missed the changelog entry)
however, the visual "squeeze" shown below still occurs.
old issue description: item fades/crossfades get changed unexpectedly when moving objects in free item positioning mode.
0- set default crossfade shape to X (linear)
1- create track in FIPM, add items
2- create a couple non-standard overlapping fade shapes ala gif
3- lasso and ctrl-drag items to the right
4- ISSUE: while dragging, FIPM items get "boxed in" by the floor and ceiling of the track. this results in them being pushed into the same place, triggering a crossfade that does not match the user's specified fade shapes.
5- expected behavior: Y position of these items should not be so easily changed, OR items shouldn't be permitted to overlap in step 3.
note that this happens because FIPM items get squeezed together. for this reason, i often take the extra step to shrink FIPM items a little smaller than .5 trackheight. this helps the behavior -- it allows the items to get overlapped without losing their respective fades...but then this happens:
if you drag another item overtop the simultaneously overlapping and non-overlapping FIPM items, your fades get converted into crossfades.
