Default How to view core usage

Hi guys. I've seen in the forums that you can monitor core usage while reaper is running from within windows.
How is this done?
Thanks

Cntrl/Alt/Delete Performance tab. Check to see that you have 2 or 4 cpu usage windows depending on how many cores you have.

I have a Quad Core, but my meter only shows 1 CPU block. Windows has 2 though. Which is right, since it's 2 dual cores in 1 chip.

2 CPU meters in windows? It should be four. What does your BIOS tell ou at start up? Mine says that I have four cores.

I agree, my dual core shows two performance meters in Windows.

Hmm. Do you have a Q6600 with GO Stepping. Also, is there something that I've set up wrong? Do I need to flash the BIOS or something? I'm quite lost with this stuff.

Do you have a Q6600, and have I done something wrong? Where in the BIOS do I need to set these things up?

Larry,

Indeed check your BIOS, if you 'added' that chip yourself you'll more than likely need to upgrade your BIOS. Check your motherboard manufacturer's website. You should be able to find the information you need there.

Thanks bluzkat, I just updated the BIOS with @BIOS on my Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H. That's done now. Also, I'll show you this screenshot.

According to my logic though, which may be very wrong, I have 4 CPU usage histories, does that mean that it sees all 4 cores. And I also can set CPU Affinity between 4 different CPU's.

I really need help with this, and yes I did install everything myself. I've been looking at hal.dll things and some other files.

Hey Larry,

things are cool for you, all four cores are visible and should work now.
In Reaper go to Preferences/Audio/Buffering and set "Synchronous FX multiprocessing: limit to ---> 4 CPUs" and you should be using all four cores in Reaper now. Load several tracks with fx on it and watch how CPU load is distributed among the cores, enjoy.

Awesome Shogger!! You are a very nice person with a willingness to help. Don't see that much. This forum is great, as I was about to be pissed about my 700 dollar DAW that's 100 times more powerful than the 2000 dollar GigaStudio DAW I bought 3 years or so ago.

Thanks a lot man!!!

Damn I'm happy!
