Kontakt Volume Changes (While I stand and do nothing)
I've been using Reaper for a while now, but there is a new behavior that has shown up without configuration changes or anything. Kontakt 5 instruments go to a very low volume.
All I have to do is to arm a MIDI track, and within several seconds the volume of the instrument receiving that channel in Kontakt shoots down to -23.2. I don't have to play the track, click on the track, or play anything. It just happens on its own.
I've read lots of posts here and elsewhere, but they do not help. I have disabled resetting CC/Pitch. I even tried setting the track's MIDI fader on max. Changes nothing. This behavior just seems to happen on its own.
It is happening more and more frequently. When it first showed up, it happened every several minutes. Now, though, it is almost instant.
I can't get anything done. Any ideas?

put ReaControlMIDI plugin on the track before Kontakt. Click "Show Log"
This will show you what MIDI CCs are being received at the input of the fx chain. If the track is record armed it will show what your controller is sending. during playback you'll see anything in the recorded MIDI.

If that does not show the problem, perhaps you could compress a simple problem project file (no audio samples needed) into a ZIP file and post it here as an attachment so that we can have a look at it and see what's (not) happening?
How to post attachments (in Post #1)

As EpicSounds mentioned check the incoming MIDI messages.
Might be that Kontakt is receiving a CC #7 Volume Change Message from somewhere (MIDI input, automation, etc.).

This sounds to me like as soon as you arm the track, it's getting the CC07 or CC11,
or both that causes it to change. Depending on the instrument it could also be CC01.
The way around that is to put those controllers right at the very front of those midi
tracks. I've gotten to where I do that all the time now.

After much tracking, I found that my MIDI keyboard was the culprit. I'm not sure why it just started doing this recently (and not before), but sure enough, as I move the slider, so goes Kontakt, and it is sending volume updates almost steadily.
Come to think of it, I accidentally pressed the "Advanced Functions" button a few weeks ago. Maybe I hit a control key at that time that turned on the volume events. Now I just have to troll the Internet for a manual to help me turn it off.
You guys have been great. Thanks for the help.

Actually this has happened to me. I’ll try the ReaControlMIDI plugin. Thanks.
